Tim Cahill underwent an operation on his broken metatarsal on Tuesday evening.

The Aussie midfielder has had a screw inserted into his foot to aid the recovery of the fracture in his fifth metatarsal.

The operation was conducted by the same surgeon that dealt with James McFadden's broken foot earlier this season.

Cahill is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering the fracture during the first-half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Everton physio Matt Connery told evertonfc.com: "Tim had the op on Tuesday night to insert a screw into his foot and it went well."

Hope it goes really well, and hes back playing for us next season.

Good lucky Timmy

And the Socceroos are hoping he will be fit for the Asia Cup in the Summer. I hope he isn't fit for that, the lad needs a summer off for crying out loud!!!!
