FSC was showing a re-run of the Grand Final between Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets yesterday.

Interesting match and I thought Aloisi was a bit hard done by having his shirt pulled in the box going for a header. I thought it should have been a penalty.

The goal Bridge scored was a cracker and you felt for Vidmar after losing the ball out to Bridge and seeing him bang it into the net. They announcers were saying it was his last match and that you hoped he wasn't remembered for that. They subbed him out to get another attacker on and he received a nice round of applause.

I thought the German player that Central Coast brought in at right midfield around minute 60 (Gump something rather) looked lively and I wondered why he hadn't been brought on sooner.

Newcastle was also let off the hook when the corner in stoppage time clearly hit the raised arm/elbow of a Newcastle defender in the box. CCM players were going ballistic after the no call.

Looks like Central Coast got as many penalties in that match as Everton have had the entire year. None.

All in all, somewhat of an exciting match.

Just wondering how many of you follow the Australian League and have a team that you follow closely?

Jets have a cracking Joel something or other looks the dog's bollocks everytime I catch the Aussie games.

do the kiwi's still have a team in that league? were called the kings when i was over there but they were from aukland so being in christchurch no-one really gave a [Poor language removed].

Nah i can't get to watch it, it's on pay tv which i dont' have. From what our national coach (Mr Verbeek) says it's not worth watching anyway.

They showed the National Team coach there watching that match. I guess that's not surprising. It's not like he'd have somewhere else to be.

Sorry I should clarify his comments were "If you train for three weeks with Nurnberg or with Karlsruhe, I have to be very honest, I still think that's better than playing A-League games,"

which is sad but so true.

Come on Bundy.

If you had Fox youd watch it.

I would. Football has always shot itself in the foot here, despite being the most poular junior sport.

Id say only 50% of households, maybe less has pay TV and wheres the only place they will show it?

Theres a great channel called SBS and they love the game, so much so that they did a lead up and a half time round up of the final, even though they cant show the game.

Its a disgrace.

Andre Gumprecht, solid character but on the outer with McKinna. Dressed up to 'Mad Monday' (day after a final in any code here) as Adolf Hitler.

Joel Griffiths, Jets striker. Great little player and along with Mark Milligan maybe could push for a higher level.

Interesting fact : I tried out for the under 16 Central coast side (before the mariners) making the top 20 before cut for the top 16.
Interseting fact 2 : Mariners stalwart Andrew Clark was the captain of my high school. Him and his mates put me in a tree and mock beat me up, until we all got busted by the Woodwork teacher and then became mates. They were in yr 12 and I was in yr 7.

Yeh i would watch it if it was on free to air. Can't believe no one was willing to pay more than 17 mill a year, i was very dissappointed when they said fox had bought it.

I don't have cable either, but I joined the local RSL pretty much purely to watch it.

What annoys me is that the 'sports bar', where the games are shown, closes early most nights, so they'll actually come and turn off games mid-way through... you're then left to go upstairs to the main bar, and try to convince the bar staff to turn the game on, and then it's without sound...

Being a Sydney lad I feel a certain loyalty to Sydney FC, but over the past year I've definitely realised a leaning towards the Mariners. I love their ground, great place to see a game from all accounts (I've only driven past it a couple of times when I'm up north, but have plans to go up and see a few matches next season).

Actually Joel Griffiths reminds me a bit of Andy Johnson... little bloke who's quick and likes a run.
