I dont think it was canned as such. I think they had a storyline they wanted to do and it came to a natural conclusion. Its nice when shows end when they should, instead of going on for far too long. Like say Heroes, Prison Break, 24.

I can appreciate that, the sopranos got close to end of shelf life, and i havnt seen series 5 yet, but, there seems plenty there for the wire so could there have been a bit more, cast wise i cant think of anything like it, and story wise it exceeded that.

been burnt by american drama recently, (heroes, nip tuck, lost) so not going to chance mad men or deadwood. there was something similar to the wire a few years ago, but i cant recall what it was just now. oz is rather nasty. and i read an interview with the luther guy from the wire the other day about a series he did where he played a crack addict.

Did not like Oz at all. Downloaded the boxset and get to the start of Season 2, but I got bored.

Watching The Mentalist at the moment, its no great, but its watchable trash.

Don't even compare Mad Men to those ****e shows you listed. It's well worth the punt mate, trust me.

Mad Men, The Wire, The Sopranos and The West Wing are the best things to come out of America.
