Today's football.

League shouldn't matter to them anymore, tbh.

They should be just playing for europe. Winning the Cl is the only thing that can save their season.

going from champions to not being in europe would be one of the biggest travesties in modern football. you get the same for finishing 17th!

then again, it would help the new manager go for the title next season with their other 3 rivals all in champs league action

"BluenosePaul, post: 2591050, member: 24603"]Bar the first leg, United have been impressive in Europe which has surprised me.
Thing Is this champs league is a cash cow full of dross teams until the last 8. About 10 great sides and a ton of cannon fodder. We where so unlucky / had off, to draw a fabulous Villareal that year. I still fume at the Collina @#$×!

Just amazing. Not that they won, but how Moyes did his usual - once he had the finishing line in sight, he ducked back into his shell and hoped for the best.

They haven't got a prayer of progressing any further in that competition once a half decent side is drawn against them. That was a Championship/League 1 standard performance at best from Olympiakos, yet barring De Gea they would have went out despite that.

There's europe and there's europe, though.

Whether they're in the europa or not doesn't matter, it's the Cl that does.

Moyes is gone in the summer unless he wins the Cl, imo. And Man U are in deep trouble unless they win the Cl this year.

I don't think they can do it, but it's defo the only possible thing they can aim for this year. If I worked for Man U I'd be reducing their season to 5 european games and not caring remotely about any of the league games.

Imagine wanting to see Moyes and co lift the Champions League trophy...

I think it would help everton if it did happen.

It would make Moyes much harder to sack which would mean Man U would be worse and it would knock one of the top 4 out of the Cl which would weaken them.

Anything that makes everton more likely to win trophies works for me.

Well he's decent as orgainzing a D. In the CL draws are useful. Teams that go balls to the wall offense rarely win this thing (there is a reason why Benetez went to 2 finals). Even Barca was kind of defensive content to pass it around and not taking too many chances by moving guys forward.

Don't see how it would help us win trophies in any way.
