Completely agree with this.

He has a go, kept presenting for the ball, but just doesn’t have the talent to be a consistently good premier league player.

He won’t be near this side in 12 months if Carlo keeps up the rebuild and turns us into a European regular.

Seems a genuinely good fella and stands for everything that is great about the club, that’s the community and having a heart, but he unfortunately isn’t good enough on the pitch.
He gets in the side because he's one of the only midfielders we have that can stay fit. I think he'll stick around.

He did alright, worked hard and always shows for the ball. He loses possession sometimes and makes bad calls under pressure but every midfield player in any team will do. I don't get the hate for him. The only thing id fault him for timigfht was that he was passing backwards a lot but I couldn't see from the tight camera angles as to whether that was because there was nothing showing for him further up with having no proper forwards playing
He frustrates the life out of me. He did some good things, nicking the ball, even going past the odd player, then would give a sloppy pass. Awful fir the corner for their goal, couldn’t sort his feet out.

the big problem is he’s not alone in being sloppy. Doucoure who we know what he brings and it’s been needed in our midfield, but he’s also average on the ball and gives it away.

Siggurdsson. Once he takes two touches and has a player or two near him, he losses it. Played a shocking pass to Digne for a one two, which lead to Doucoure getting booked.

Iwobi while not as bad also was sloppy at times. We can’t afford carry 2/3/4 players, who lose possession so easily especially no the midfield.

I think that’s why he brings Gomes on, he can’t be trusted to play 90mins but Carlo thinks he can at least keep the ball better, but even he gave it away cheaply in injury time.

Ancelotti is doing an incredible job with this set of players.

Have to say I'm astonished that there are so many on here saying that he did ok tonight, everyone who defends him always mentions that he gives the ball away 3 or 4 times as if that's now an acceptable part of his game....the amount of times he loses possession/gives the ball away is shocking, maybe there would be an argument for him If he was strong in other areas but hes not.....I dont see what he offers at all......not a tom hater as I want to see everyone at the club doing well just my opinion

The ultimate example of why football stats are largely meaningless. Horrid footballer but people throw out these 100% duels won, 80% odd passing accuracy etc. The real truth is if you watch him play he’s awful.

Yeah he’ll win his duels but that’s because he gave the ball away in the first place and has to win it back or winning 100% of his tackles because he gives it away. The passing one is what winds me up most. I’m truly an awful footballer but if I play midfield I would assume I’m passing 4 out of 5 times correctly, he only does 5 yard passes to the defenders or 1-2s of course his passing % is high, it should be it’s his job. He does absolutely nothing, even the bare minimum sometimes is too much for him.

People might disagree but I blame him for the goal today with that awful attempt at a clearance (which went to his clearance stats) and also for not taking out Neto and leaving Doucoure take the yellow, meaning we have to watch him again while Doucoure is suspended. Nice one.

I don’t wish ill on the lad or anything he’s just an awful player among one of the worst in his position in the league. People are properly obsessed with making out he’s great and Carlo loves him and all this and it’s honestly weird. He gets praised for an average game now at this point, it’s baffling. It’s been said to death but if he wasn’t in the academy he’d be gone long ago like many others like Baningime and Pennington.

He was at fault for the corner, you cant blame him for the goal. And you cant say well if he hadnt of gave the corner away becuase then you have to look at who allowed the ball to come in that he didnt deal with.
Much worse players out there last night, Holgate and Siggy did much lessthen he did.
