His form isn’t good enough at the minute but he is as good as what we have there for the time being. Once Allan is back he’s out, I’ll tell you right now I would rather get behind Davies running his b@llocks of than the invisible man.
Has he been good enough for the last 5 years. He shows a lot more than siggy but who doesn't but at the moment his skill set is very limited.

Did ok last night. We have seen that him and Gomes together doesn’t work though, so that worries me for the next match.
The concern I have with him is the lack of awareness. Saw a couple of times last night where he ran into trouble. That will always cost a team points over a season.

Andre gomes has a similar problem. He is undoubtedly talented and comfortable on the ball, but it is like he is lazy with it and gets caught out as a result.

He's 21 and still developing. A lot of people (fairly) writing him off given he doesn't seem to excel at any particular position. However, DCL only really just started hitting his stride and he is 23. Some players develop more later and I think a major part of Tom's problem is he isn't physically imposing enough. Lad needs to hit the gym harder and probably follow a stricter diet. His utility is very useful in reality and if he can be molded into an imposing midfielder he will be significantly more useful.

Agree with a lot of this. Been saying for a while that he is physically poor strength wise and can be easily knocked off the ball. And that he should have been building himself up in the gym. If he can get physically stronger he may become a better player. But 4 -5 years on not seeing that yet

I think Carlo likes his versatility ....never going to be the best in any position but generally he can be called on to fill a gap without too much risk being created...a utility player like that is priceless to any manager. He won't be going anywhere
Tom has his good and bad points, in a way he is his own worst enemy, too willing to play in various positions for different managers since he broke into the team and give 100% each time, he’s become a Jack of all trades and master of none, same as Alan Harper, he plays for the team above anything else, he’s seldom brilliant, if he gets a settled position he might surprise a lot of us,,as you say he is a great asset at the moment for Everton, and without Doucoure, if the Villa game goes ahead, he will be needed.

Thought he did alright on the whole last night but was frustrated by his lack of ambition with his passing on occasions. There were a few times when a threaded ball up the wing to Digne was on but he instead took a sideways or backwards pass. Don't think he trusts his passing accuracy, but maybe he's right not to.

Sometimes he lacks awareness of when to dribble with it and when not to, and his defensive concentration just seems to be lacking. He'll often concede a set piece unnecessarily or make the wrong decision in and around the box when we are under the cosh. Tends to hoof it clear when there is the chance of taking back possession, and try to play out when we need it hoofed.

Nevertheless having asked myself the question of 'what is Tom Davies' over the last few years, it looks like Carlo is finding a home for him in the 6. His defensive determination has improved and he is markedly more aggressive in the tackle. His reading of the game has improved, in part from deputisations at right back and right wing back. He has always had quality on the ball but I think the simplification of instructions in the 6 is helping there too. Think he is really benefiting from watching and mimicking Allan's game up close.

I find him immensely frustrating sometimes but, as others have pointed out, he is still young and I would keep him in and around the squad for as long as it takes for him to refine these improvements as far as they can go.
