He was full of running last night and he played well. He's good in certain types of games where he can hassle and cover ground but limited in other aspects. He will never bring us what someone like Tielemans will - we need to be looking elsewhere for that.

Reminds me a little of Ferguson and YS Park - he'd come out in games where running and effort were needed.

His awareness of what's on when he has the ball looks limited. If his frst choice is closed down he invariably loses the ball and cant retain it or go to ground for a foul.

When I was last at Goodison, some old dear behind me said 'oh Tom, if only you could do the simple things right' after he misplaced a 5 yard pass horribly after getting a little pressure from his opposite number.

He needs to protect the ball much better throughout the game (same could be said for a lot of our players btw).

There was a moment last night, towards the dying minutes, where he was surrounded and rather than give the ball away, in what would've been a risky area, he scooped it out of play and let us regroup...more of that sensible play needed

I'd like to see him work with Cahill - I think his play would benefit from a lot of what made Cahill good.

Did alright again yesterday, him and Gomes are alright squad players provided one of Allan and Doucoure plays. Not expecting miracles from him but he’s been useful this season. If we get Europe we’re going to need squad players like him who can come in and do a job. I really don’t see what people expect a 5th choice cm to be like for a team not in Europe

Nope not at all. I for one hasn't slagged him off. But everything he does seems rushed , if he could slow things down he may become a decent player , but seems too try to hard , which causes issues and rash decisions.

never gonna be top class but he has improved under ancelottis coaching.
rarely gets injured so he has a valuable place in the squad.
no squad apart from maybe city is full of top class players.
