Anyone heard of him?

Well I just noticed him as a columnist on TW who got binned because he was more than a [Poor language removed] yesterday in reflection of the big vote.

I had a quick look at his reports on the Reading game. Seems that if the ball had crossed the line and not hit the woodwork twice, a different tale would have been told. Is this the kind of reporting we need from lets face it, a very high profile website.

Is too much freedom in this field a good thing? We can use forums to vent frustration, and quite often develop knee jerk reactions and become too emotive over certain issues, and also very often drunk while we do it.

Tony Marsh isn't alone in his quite uncalled for posts. Mr Kendrick is often found to be venting fury. I mean its not like were a [Poor language removed] side with no prospects. We even have cash at the moment and look like forming a side who I think has a great chance of Champions League football.

Now there are loads of young scamps who are getting into Everton, do they need to be reading such drivel that comes from TW? We are moving to Kirkby, and be looking at bringing in more fans, do they need to be reading such cynical [Poor language removed].

No.

So I propose that we look to develop GrandOldTeam into a similar site to TW, but less cynical and more informed. I can offer some time in the assistance in setting up a magazine style. I would even develop the framework to allow us to use several columnists to publish various articles on various subjects.

We have a wide spectrum here and we can certainly offer more than that crap over there.

The forum would remain the same, but the front end would be more magazine/newspaper style (but not Tabloid). At the moment it just serves as a front end to the forum, and I think it can do so much more.

Anyway, this is something that I have been interested in doing for a while, and will more than likely do it on another domain if there is not enough intertest here, and of course if the owners are not up for it.

I did think about PM'ng the owners, but I think this may interest quite a few here, and I just wanted to put my thoughts out there.

Think about it, we could have someone concentrating on the financial aspects of the club, one person does spring to mind. We can have Nostalgia columns by Monty or RJarvis. Blues Stateside, Blues in Japan. etc.....

We are all responsbile for the further development of the fan base, and I can't stand by and let sites like ToffeeWeb drag us through the mud.

I just think we are all fairly well informed, and have such a wide spectrum that we have a duty to put a more positive and fair reflection on the club. Of course if the club is being tossers then we can say that too, but I think realistic opinions are better than knee jerk reactions, or cynicism when it doesn't always warrant it.

Anyway, there it is. Anyone interested, if so we can talk, if the owners are interested then we can talk too.

Sounds like a decent idea. Being critical has its place and nothing is ever perfect so constant improvement is a must, but I think if you are to be critical then it would help to provide your thoughts on improvements rather than just blowing off hot air like TW seem to rather a lot.

The inspiration for such a post. Its all good and we need to be less miserable and enjoy our passion more.

I say miserable in the collective term of blues, not necessarily here.

tony marsh has been removed from toffeeweb never to return.

strangely i read the first full article on there in months this morning and it was in referance to some problems yesterday when the vote was confirmed.

bye bye marshy, dont let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

I think it sounds like a nice idea.

Having a few persons writing columns here would make a nice addition. As long as the columnists stick to facts and not to belittle fans that have other views or thoughts, I'd welcome insights from others and from opposite sides of a discussion.

Would prefer that only a selected few would be able to do it though. The rest of us can always bring up ideas and such in the forum. But to have a few true blues posting articles on the frontpage would be a nice touch.

Well the idea that I have would be to have one or two administrators, like we have now on the forum. Then say 5 or 6 regular contributors. All of which need to have their contribution verfied by the Editor or Admin. Everyone else can submit an article if they wish, and it can be published as a guest contributor, and perhaps once solid articles start arriving that person can be elevated to a contributor.

Great Idea suits.

I've always thought of doing a column called "Silver Lining" and only ever writing happy things about Everton no matter the current situation :D

People can write columns/articles here now. All they have to do is ask and i'll revamp the homepage to incorporate it.

But is it user friendly? ToffeeWeb I'm sorry is better laid out and is more like what I expect from a web magazine. What we have here is just a forum. All the activity is on the forum and it looks like a forum.

No offence is intended, that's just how I see it.

I'd write for it, if accepted. Although my realism is sometimes described as pessismism.

It can't be all buoyunt optimism. Besides, I'm quite upbeat about the squad the blues are building. Our best players, in fact most of the good players, have all signed long term contracts. Our financial future looks more secure, we've invested in a yound team that has the potential to become a world class team.

You only have to remember the team that moyes inherited, Nyarko, Linderoth, Pembridge, Alexandersson, Gemmil etc.

How could I take offence at that? ToffeeWeb is a better website, no doubt about that. ToffeeWeb is the best unofficial fan site there is (well, it was voted 2nd by 4awards but i think its better than the winner)

As for the homepage being an add-on to the forums, thats what its meant to be at the moment. This website is forums, its obviously just geared towards discussion. Sure, the odd 'update' is ran to attract a few visitors from newsnow etc but we're far from a full website.

I'd welcome anyone who wants to help contribute towards the website in anyway, columns, news updates etc...

Well that's why I suggested it. You could keep the site/forum as it is. But use the name as a front for an intelligent magazine style like TW, but better informed.

I have a CMS system that I use which would be ideal for our needs. Let me think about it and I will come back with some ideas.

What got best unofficial site then?

Put your name forward as a contributor/publisher then and we'll get the ball rolling (y)

[SIZE=-1]www.cfcnet.co.uk won, TW was second.[/SIZE]

I know one of the guys who works on CFCnet (he's often on Sky/BBC talking about Chelsea). He mentioned last year about doing something with me/TW when we played Chelsea at the Bridge so there could be something there perhaps.
