Fair point Michael, but with free reign I think McCarthy could do that job, box to box. He has the legs and the energy. The couple of scruffy finishes he has for us suggests to me that he maybe isn't the free scoring midfielder we'd like though ! Agreed about Barry though.

Was thinking the exact same in terms of interpreting El Bob's musings, never an easy thing to do getting through to the actual point.

To hit teams on the break you need to start the passing from deep and quickly move the ball. This could be more like what we need, not to allow them to mass up behind the ball and then look for a slide rule pass in tight spaces.

The big thing will be to get Rom facing the goal this year and using his pace and power to push past defenders, not back to goal when he's poor and the defenders can pick him off.
 
Why are we looking for Sergi Roberto? Have we not got enough CMs in our squad? As that old idiom goes, "Too many cooks spoil the broth".
Its starting to worry me that we aren't genuinely linked with any CB with just about 3 weeks to start the season.

Reported on Sport Witness that we are looking to sign both Sergi Roberto and Adama Traore on loan from Barca, they are quoting Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo. We need a back up to Lukaku, that's for sure and Traore could fit the bill on loan, I doubt we could play the 15 million euro release clause to get him permanently.

I've seen Traore play a couple times and he's always been on the wing mate.
