Why?
We defo have money without sellings...and thats not just me. Bobby has said that more than once.

I doubt we have much more than 15 mil.

I couldn't see us signing a CB and a number 10 after signing Austin, unless we somehow manage to get the price down.

Would love Austin here, proper striker. Scores a lot of headers, runs himself into the ground every game and consistently gives his all every time he crosses that white line. Good touch as well, scores a lot of places efforts into the corners. Penalties aside in fact, can't recall him blasting many. While Rom would still be our 'first choice' striker, he'd still rack up about 20 appearances, and if Rom got an injury he might find it difficult to get back in. Every decent team needs at least two great strikers, and we've only got 1.

We might be able to nick him for £12m I reckon.

Do we still need a new CB?

Assuming Stones stays. Are Galloway and Browning enough for next season. If it means getting in another striker and/or a better playmaker that we would have otherwise then I think we don't.

I really rate Browning. I think he could go on to be almost if not as good as Stones.

As promising as Browning and Galloway look, that would mean three of our four CBs are 21 and under. You need at least one experienced CB as backup or even to keep Stones and Jagielka on their toes.

I know it's a bit of a risk but if money is tight is it any more of a risk than playing Kone if Rom is injured or not getting a play maker. In an ideal world of course we wouldn't want to do this but in an ideal world we would have already done our business.

At this point, probably not. But then again that's why the manager has come out and said we need a striker as well as CB.

If it were me, and the funds dictated I could only buy a CB, or only buy a striker. I would choose striker, but I couldn't blame the manager too much for getting a CB because it's the position that needs an experienced head more than anywhere on the pitch.

I just don't get it. Why do people keep plucking these numbers out of the air, then convince themselves that they mean something ? There is no such thing as a fixed transfer budget. All big deals are leveraged over several years anyway.

Martinez has made a very public commitment to aim to bring in three players to the first team squad. That's good enough for me, for now. It goes without saying that this could include one or two loans.

Rondon flew in to England for talks with a PL club and Roberto travelled to London. Anyone think it could be him.

His agent has said "there is a very good offer of a mid-table club in the Premiership. A team with a long history and a big name, but middle of the table".

Apart from the middle of the table thing (not counting last year) he rest sounds like us.

Any assertions as to our budget are educated guesses based on years and years of watching Everton under the current board, mate. I could well be wrong and hope I am with regards to getting back up as good as Austin whilst retaining Stones.

I'm sure we will bring 3 players in, and one or two may be loans but I couldn't see the loan being the CB based on Jags being in his 30s and CB being a position that needs stability.
