Just got my renewal form through for the TV licence.

£142!

I must admit the living room's air was blue. What a f**king rip off. They dont ever put Everton on a decent spot on MOTD.

So what do you get for your TV licence from BBC?

1. Some unfunny man on radio 1 in the mornings
2. MOTD, sorry "Big four highlights"
3. Reruns of old TV programs like "Only Fools" (Not slating OFAH as i love it)
4. BBC4, whats the point?

Can anyone tell me how difficult is it to skip the fee? Do you get a notice if you get caught without one? Is there anything good on the Beeb? Does anyone have the email of the tw@t in charge so i can send a strongly worded email (is it b.kenwright@efc.com).

Write to them, tell them you no longer have a TV. When the man comes round to check, don't let him in. Job done.

You "need" a licence if your PC has a TV card too.

But what if i want to watch ITV, Sky etc. Need a TV and if its plugged then you need the licence. Think you need a TV licence to use the iplayer as well. They have you any which way.

Guess i will just have to pull my pants down and take the punishment

You need a license if you watch or record tv programs as they are being broadcast and it doesn't matter what equipment you use to do so.

Simple as that.

I moved into a new place a couple of months ago and don't have a license because i don't actually watch tv. But that hasn't stopped the bastards sending me threatening letters though even though i'm doing nothing wrong.

They did call round a couple of weeks ago but i just didn't answer.

I probably should just call them up and tell them i dont watch tv (even though i have one) and hopefully they'll leave me alone. But i haven't got round to it yet haha.

I'm gonna fight the man yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If i stop posting on here one day it might be because i've been arrested for being a terrorist or soemthing.

There is nothing you can do about the fee unfortunately unless you got rid of your TV or got a black and white set. My advice is to write to them saying you wish to pay via the Cash Easy Entry scheme. I pay around £5.50 per three weeks and although you are paying the full fee eventually, it is easier on the pocket.

That's the answer right there. BBC1 streams live now anyway. Alternatively just unplug your aeriel cable everytime there is a knock at the door, it's not illegal to have an TV, just to have one plugged into an aeriel.

It would also need to be detuned.
