TV Series

New Wheel of Time show. If you have read the books, it is a dumpster fire. If you haven't then I don't know if it is going to pull you in. The acting is mediocre at best, the CGI is poor, the dialogue is riddled with exposition and poor writing.

They're already working on a season 2 but I don't see it going further than this. I'm quite disappointed with what they've given us.

Is The Walking Dead worth watching? I gave it up around Negan (season 5 I think?) because the characters kept getting ridiculously quirkier by the episode and I couldn't take it seriously. The nail in the coffin was the guy with dreadlocks and tigers. Does it stay on that course or does it get a bit more grounded?

No mate, I’m still watching it and there’s a few alright seasons after Negan but it’s not what it was. I actually think Fear the Walking dead is better than it if you haven’t watched that. There’s another spin off but I think it’s more for teenagers from the little I’ve seen of it. Fear the walking dead is good. If you’re into zombie stuff and haven’t seen Black Summer I’d recommend that. It’s excellent, only 2 seasons of it though. It’s on Netflix if you fancy it and it’s more like how you’d imagine a real zombie apocalypse would pan out rather than fellas bouncing round with Tigers

So I've watched the first 3, now disclaimer, I haven't read the books so I am coming from a completely different place to you, I can't pick holes in it so forgive my ignorance. First though a big plus is they've kept it darkish and adult and not gone the way of Shannara and Sword of Truth that really were botched and butchered.

I don't think the acting is too bad, Rosamund Pike is normally pretty good. The cgi is what it is, it's high fantasy so hey ho a bit of leeway I suppose. I also can't really comment on the writing as I can't compare it too the books. Altogether I have enjoyed the first 3 episodes I was dreading it being like Shannara.

I hope it gets better for you, I guess it's a plus for me not having read the books with regard top ythis tv series, I've been meaning to read them for years and I might when I have completed mistborn and stormlight archive(I know you know what I am on about)

Why are the kids in it basically adults?! Completely taken away the Loss of innocence

I don't think they really had too many choices to make with the tone as when you start getting into the story there are some moments that really do show the level of destruction the ones with the power can bring. There's one book scene in particular which usually gets everyone to sit up and take notice and question the brutality of it all.

Rosamund Pike has been alright, the problems lie with the script more than with the actors, though I am not fussed on Egwene at all. The best casting has been Mat hands down and it seems like he jibbed it off over COVID vaccines or something which is a shame.

The books individually aren't great and the start is basically LOTR-lite but the over-arching story that is the series is amazing and has such great character development and growth over the 14 books. I am struggling to see the TV show doing it justice and lasting long enough to get to the end seems like a huge longshot.

Watched a few things in the last week
Valley of Tears on More 4.Israeli series about the Yom Kippur War from 1973.Really good.
Blackspace on Netflix,an Israeli drama about a school shooting.Fairly predictable but a good watch.
