TV Series

Watched the first 2 episodes of Station Eleven and not really sure what I make of it. It looks like it has the makings of a really good show and the novel it is based on was really well received - I havent read it.

Its timeline jumps around a lot as its a non-linear story and there is a lot of references flying around that I guess will become more clear in latter episodes.

I might watch the first 2 again.

i've downloaded this to watch, it has good reviews

What was 'Anne' like?

I never went near it because it looks like exploitation of that tragedy now.

I just wondered if there were any Everton references in any of the 4 episodes?

It was heart wrenching and Maxine Peake was wonderful as Anne.

Imo, there was no RS exploitation, it was about the families and their fight for justice.

We got a mention with the tributes at the memorials etc.

It`s a full box of hankies job tbh.

What episode? What was said?

I like Maxine Peake...she's a good socialist. But the trailers I saw she was doing that singy songy faux scouse accent that made her sound terrible and unfitting for the role.

I think it was the third episode, when the goal mouth at the Leppings Lane end was filled full of flowers and footy shirts, then again at the Shankly gates.

He accent got better, as it went on, as she went less " nasaly " .

Such a good show. Was worried about watching it as it felt like a cheap cash in on the film, which I love. But they have really smashed it and it keeps on getting better.

They used the film as a template and developed and expanded it superbly.

Plus, all the cast look like they`re having the time of their laugh too.

I prefer the tv series to the film tbh.

As much as I loved the film, the tv series is just so much more fun to watch.

I'll have to take a look.

As said, I've seen a lot of these dramas before and while I think the woman was a fighter and deserves great credit the TV companies are exploiting this now. The commercials they pull in over 4 nights at prime time hands them massive revenue.
