TV Series

Stay Close- thought it was very good actually. Those two weird killers nearly ruined it for me though.

It’s the second of Harlan Coben’s work on Netflix that I’ve liked ‘The Stranger’ is also very good if you haven’t seen it.

Richard Armitage (who played Ray Levine in Stay Close) plays the main character in The Stranger.
Got up to the episode last night were those two were introduced...

Genuine WTF moment when they started randomly doing that dance number when they had that girl's body in the car

This looks.... interesting. The case has fascinated me for years. I remember buzzing off the news reports at the time, I found it hilarious that a barman/car salesman who as looked dull as dishwater could blag so many people, do more screwing than a Greek waiter then and rinse his victims for coin whilst making them live on a £1 a day and wash in public toilets.
I mean how thick would you have to truly be? If some beaut claimed to be a spy, then first off he's already blown his "cover"??? If they don't include the weird "loyalty" tests he was said to have devised (eg living in a park for a week with a mars bars to eat) in this then I'll be really disappointed, they were the work of a comic genius........

Keep forgetting to mention that I finally finished Money Heist last week.

All-in-all a cracking show, one of my favourites in years. If you can suspend your disbelief long enough at times to just enjoy the drama of it it'll take you on a proper ride. I highly doubt we'll see something quite like it again (unless Hollywood decides to do an American version of it, that is!)

I mean, it's like some dark Chris Morris-type satire... I hope it's not just focused on the "victims", I'd rather it took the piss out of their obvious stupidity. A used car salesman/barman says he's undercover for "Queen and country"... yeah, alright mate, got any credentials? A licence to kill? Where's M and Q?

Someone needs to make a new big budget series based on Roman Empire. Rome was great but it was before the explosion of streaming and big budget TV and thus looked a bit “made for TV” relative to today’s bid budget shows. Funnily enough it was cancelled because production costs were too expensive.
I want someone to make a properly gritty show about the Golden Age of the Pirates. Like Black Sails but without the campy humour and with good actors.
