Ive had this twitchy eye for about 5 weeks- its intermittent but really really annoying. Ive done some reading around and some say its dehydration and some stress etc. But has anyone else had it and especially for so long? Its driving me to distraction- I just want to scratch my eye ball out!!!!

Not wanting to scare you, but that was one the symptoms that i had when it was eventually diagnosed that i had Thyroid disorder ! If it persists get it checked out matey, if only for your peace of mind.

It's basically an imbalance of the Thyroid gland, causing either slow or fast heart rate and palpatations, low or high metabolisms. All of which is easily treated but can very serious if neglected. Your doc would give you a blood test to determine if you've gone under active or over active, then prescribe medication to right the chemical imbalance. But some of the symptoms are reflected in the eyes, twitching, dry, sometimes sore eyes, dry mouth causing insatiable thirst.

What you have may very well be nothing more than a temporary facial tick, but i'd get it checked out to be on the safe side, now that i have my medication i no longer have the eye twitching or palpatations ( only when Everton play )

not making light of a potential medical problem here, but could the way that the doctor checks for this potentially make him lose his rasp, and at the same time make his eyes water ?

Not really- but its a visible twitch when I look closely in the morror. Im starting to get worried because it has been so long.

I really dont like wasting Doctors time though if its just nothing and Im being over cautious.

If anything, the medication that i recieve adds to the whole raspitory experience, i hope i'd never be disqualified from a thrapping competition for taking rasp enhancing drugs :o

Do you wear glasses ? Regardless, if you don't want to go to the doc then get a free eye test, any signs of Thryroid complaint would reveal itself to the optician without fail, if he or she says nothing, then you're tickety boo.

I have always been told that when my eye twitches its tiredness, stress or I have dust or something in it...

Isn't half irritating though.

The eyes are the window to all or most health problems, i'm glad that you've decided to go to the opticians to get it checked out, but as Danny says, you may just be over tired or not getting the right amount of sleep, so don't worry too much about it in the meantime.

You get involuntary muscle spasm in your upper or lower eye if you are spending too long in front of a monitor. A full day away from a screen and a few early nights sorts it out for me. Sadly this is a job hazard though as I work as a coder.

simplest explanation first.

due to the lapse winter, spring has sprung, so pollen and aspergillus have kicked off. also, do you have any allergies? certain types of dust or dust mite for instance.
