United to alter tactics

If they play Rooney in his right position, and Berbatov clicks, then they could be alright.

I thik they could do with a proper class Defensive mid, to allow the rest a lot more freedom to do what they want.

It seems odd, they need to replace Ronaldo and Tevez and they havent done that with Owen and Valencia, both good players, but neither can fill the void left by the greasy 1.

It's an awful big task facing Valencia. If things are going wrong I reckon he'll be the one in the firing line. Ferguson must have high hopes for Wellbeck, who, to be fair, looks a good un. Macheda on the other hand - and despite the big impact he had off the bench - doesn't give me the impression he can hack it at a club like United. Four in a row looks a bit remote at this stage.

Im just hoping he is being clever when he says he wont spend any money. I can see Chelsea pushing harder this season, hes a good manager is Ancletitititiciocicici and I can see Roman giving him some money at some point.

the scum are a sinking ship, and the sale of ronaldo was the iceberg.
their midfield is woeful, as Barca demonstrated. Anderson is shocking in particular.
old baconface isn't spending because he's got no money left! it's all going to service the debt.
they will do well to finish in the top 4 this season. they simply do not have the goals in them.

Looks like they're reverting to the diamond formation that won them the CL in 1999. A lot will depend on how the likes of Anderson and Nani progress as neither really did much last year. The midfield is the weak point and with Giggs and Scholes not really fit to do it any more the youngsters need to push on.

I cant see how this works: an avalanche of goals from the likes of Park and Nani is a big ask. And they'll really struggle going the other way if Hargreaves is missing again, and it looks like he will be given recent reports about his comeback being put off. A very uncertain season coming up for United I reckon. It'd be interesting to hear what Neville thinks.

Evening Davek

Get a few quid on United for the title mate the big number 19

19 times what bigger incentive could there be

Hope we concentrate on that anything else is a bonus

Team spirit and quality will triumph over stupid spending Arabs and Mercenarys

I have watched some of the pre season and we are looking good

Berbatov will shine this season got some good young lads coming through Rooney will step up a gear Valencia looks mustard

Think there may be a couple of signings to come as well

Thanks for the assessment Neville.

Well, it seems fair to suggest that we wont be getting one-in-a-row, so next best thing for me is rubbing salt in *their* wounds with #19. (y)

Regardless of Ronaldo, I've thought Rooney was the heartbeat of United's team in the past few seasons, so another big season from him will be required. I hope Valencia stands up to the pressure - big leap from Villareal/Wigan to that stage at OT. New signings: Fergie's said no more bodies in though hasn't he? Maybe he'll hold fire until January and see how things are shaping up?

I wouldn't be surprised to see owen thrive at old trafford, if so it'll make a huge difference to them overtaking rs title record (y), although it would also mean they're catching up with us too (n)

Owen scoring the goal that clinched United the title at Liverpool's expense would be a magical moment.
