I understand that he's 35 but Frank Lampards still got it.
I think I irrationally hate the USA team because of one main reason:
American commentators/pundits. They're just terrible. They make me hate myself. They really do. Alexi Lalas is possibly the worst thing that has happened since Kopites. The Fox Soccer guys made me want to put a drill into my skull everytime they yelled 'DEUCE' during highlights...or worse: 'THE AMERICAN'.
I'm already not a very patriotic person, but the US soccer media is just the worst. Even accounting for the fact that they clearly just don't know what they're saying.
It's not just though is it?It's Fox Soccer. Mute; sorted. Maybe put Lee Greenwood on repeat and crank it up if required.
It's not just though is it?
It's ESPN during the WC (except our lovely Bobby). It's simply American commentators/pundits speaking to the American masses in the American style. It's terrible. It's why the NBC deal has been great this year - less Americans.
Because they're trying to spread the game, they over-explain everything - it's rather patronizing. Worse than that are the commentators. They spend what seems like 80% of the match talking about completely inane and nonsensical things, like some midfielders choice of school district or some other awful nonsense. They're also quite terrible and being able to read the game. I half-watched the FA Cup final last week and it seemed like every time a player got near the box the commentator started having a fit.
There were a few times they got all excited for a shot that was clearly going way off target. And I believe Ramsey sent one into Row Z and the commentator followed it with: "He just hit that too hard." WTF? Too hard? You mean he got under it? It's the worst thing ever. At least ESPN had Ian Darke and Macca as the match commentators.
