Hello. I am a member of Villatalk, an Aston Villa forum, I'm here in peace.

I've never joined another teams forum before but I felt I had to defend our position in the Richarlison thread after some members on Villatalk drew attention to them in our transfer thread.

Most Villa fans and especially those on VT generally have a healthy respect for Everton so I was suprised at some of the comments I read bearing in mind how similar our clubs are and shared similar history. We've had a few Everton fans drop by on there down the years.

Anyway I hope your situation improves as we've had our dark days and it's no fun at all.

Mate no offence but you only finished 6 points above us this season. You're in the same dark days as us.

Was it not the ridiculous suggestion that Richarlison was on his way to you that was the source of the comments from us.

I like Villa, I hope your situation improves. Spending money on older players with an average manager looking elsewhere has big Koeman vibes

Or adding experienced players to a young squad to help short term.

We've also got a very successful academy, won the youth FA Cup last year (against those you would prefer I don't mention) and huge investment going into it.

We've a few players doing really well in The Championship currently, most notably Cameron Archer. The feeling is we need a bit of experience to allow these to come through. Probably sell Davis to Forest for a decent fee.

Just signed Boubacar Kamara who's only 22.

People are getting a bit jumpy I'll admit but we're signing 29 Yr olds, not 33 year olds, many players go on 4 years beyond 29 these days.

Suprised you guys didn't give game time to El Ghazi. True he's not the best player but he's scored some important goals for us and never misses a penalty. Was always a strange loan though.

Jury is still very much out on Slippy and there is not much love. Natives will get restless quick if things don't start well next season. I think on the whole I would rather the Gerrard gamble to the Lampard gamble if I'm honest though.

Who knows, maybe both will go on to be good managers.

How long have Villa been back in the PL now? 3 years?

In that time they've just avoided relegation, finished mid table, sold their best player and then finished 14th.

They've spent quite strongly to achieve that, while signing aging players.

Again, this ageing players thing. Our squad is very young. Not sure who all these old players are? Most players go beyond 33 these days anyway.

We paid nothing for Young on a 1 year deal as emergency back up. He's probably not staying but if he does it will probably be a other 1 year deal. Hardly breaking the bank.

Digne is a great signing adding much needed experience to the club.

Ings, Coutinho, Digne are all 29. They're hardly drawing a pension and other than Ings have worked tremendously. Still.a good chance Ings has a great year next year unless we ship him out. But he only cost £10m or so.

None of these players are exactly geriatric and have all added experience to a young squad overall.

Our owners are in the process of setting up an MLS franchise. I suspect that if we do break the bank on older players such as Suarez it will be short term for us before we ship them out to USA. But being linked to Suarez is not the same as buying him anyway.

Our owners are very shrewd. I don't see them running us into financial trouble, they've very very switched on businessmen, not some dodgy Russians or Chinese or rich boys spending Daddies money.
