Violence at the games

well, FIFA should have some authority in the case of int'l competitions. start punishing/banning national sides if they can't rein in their fans.

i imagine someone like Vladimir Hibbo can come down pretty hard on the Russian firms if FIFA threaten to pull the Cup from them.

...as I said on the other thread, I can never understand how any individual would want to throw a bottle or chair at another human being even after a load of ale. I fear for the children these blokes are bringing up with similar values. They should be named and shamed.

It does seem a right royal balls up.

Looking and reading, as well of being of an age that remembers the problems of yesteryear, it is obvious to me that the England fans are being targeted by the Russians, and in Marseille, some locals.

With the Russians in particular stuck in some 1980's time warp, it is inevitable that it will kick off again.
So the England fans are not to blame?

I think the queen should address the fans at the ferry port and tell them you sing God save the queen and no surrender etc and you all Love your country but can I enjoy my birthday celebrations for once with out watching you tw@ts bringing shame on the country

Dunno mate, not there. But would be interesting to see if any trouble happened before "others" pitched up.

Their reputation preceded them mind, not doubt at all, which is 100% their fault, but dont recall a moment of problems in Germany a few years back.

There was some trouble in Germany but not on this scale but most of trouble is bottle throwing from us and proppeR Russian hooligans

Lack of police inside the stadium last night
When the Russians attacked England fans lucky nobody was crushed
Not making excuses for anyone here but ueafa and the French must take some responsibility for not controlling this better.
Our own coppers would have dealt with this much better
One final point if England and Russia are thrown out of the tournament surely France must be ?

Don't think you can call most of them by the port fans... They get in a car catch the ferry and drink in the sun all day and get swepped up in the mayhem. Throwing bottles and chairs half of them Would never even throw a punch hid behind everyone else
