Must say pleased with that result, but there was a time when I did not mind which club won a trophy as long as it came back to Merseyside. For me that was first destroyed by Emlyn Hughes and then over the last few years with the attitude of the majority of RS supporters and of late their manager.
Well the Rs will not be able to crow about winning it 6 times but may crow about being runners up, in which event remind them what Shankly said.
"Coming first is everything, second is nothing"
One thing we do know is the Rs were second to the Blues on Merseyside.
About the game all the pundits etc claimed Liverpool played well at least in the first half, am I the only then who thought they were not that good. Sure Pennant made some penetration but to what purpose. Showed up Liverpool's lack of decent strikers, relying so much on Gerrard breaking through. IMO our pair of CB's in Yobo and Lescott every bit as good as Carragher and Agger if not better. Noticed Onionhead used 4-5-1, when we played that way against them at Anfield, we were criticised and called a small club. So who is small now, Onionhead? For me also showed that despite the millions spent they have not spent that well. After watching the game can see that, Kewell, Zenden may well be on their way. Add to that Crouch as well and the likes of others on the bench such as Hyppia, Dudek. Even just after the game there was talk of big spending in the summer so could be more exits on the way, oh of course Bellend as well. Where was Gonzales?
