I saw this and was a bit surprised to say the least. Will he be in the first team squad as a backup in case something happens to Howard?

Hes signed as a back up. Not a bad pedigree- Bayern - Cologne. Can only help to have increased competitions for places, goal keeper was one area I thought we needed looking at so this is good news.
 
phew! that was a good bit of business. i don't trust either turner or ruddy just yet with a first team jersey.

Good signing all we need now is manny and a striker
 

With him here I desperately hope that Moyes will stop looking at goalies...

Howard, Wessel, Turner, Ruddy, Jagielka, Haubstag (sp)... we can soon field a starting 11 with 11 goalies. Great for trying to get a goalless draw.. ;)
 
Still smart move all being considered. I'm like Teppic didn't think Ruddy or Turner would be able to step up just yet. I know its really not what we have been looking for(U2 theme) but solidifies the back in case Howard wasn't able to perform.

Moyes did the going over and was highly impressed. Another gem in the rough I hope all on a free to boot.(y)
