Wessels or Howard

Not seen enough of him to judge really.

If Howard isn't fully fit on Thursday though then I'd like to think Wessels would be given the nod ahead of him.

Of course he'd like to stay, do you want someone who is resigned to the bench? Anybody better than Howard should get the spot but IMHO there are very few people better than Howard.

keep faith with Howard unless he has not recovered.

Howards position should in no way be in threat after one game, or even a couple of games.

hes proven himself.

You know that Moyes will use Howards injury as an excuse and keep Wessels in. He has done it before to give people games.

'nuclear' wessels played well on saturday, but, as its the first game in europe and us needing as good a start as possible then i'd give howard every chance.

While Wessels had a good game on Sat., he didn't have to do much. Like any player, he wants to play. But he sure hasn't shown anyone that he's a better option than Howard.

When Howard's healthy, he'll be back in the starting lineup. I see Wessels getting some games in the Carling Cup or possibly the FA Cup.

[Poor language removed]..

howard is the best thing to happen to efc number one for a long time~!

timmy howard for ten more years please!!!!!!!!!

Keep wessels in on thursday but a prem game Howard.

Wessels had zilch to do on Saturday and it would be good to give him a little run and also see for ourselves if he is good enough.

Atleast he didn't run to the edge of the box flapping his arms about like his predecesor(sp) did. He already seems better then Richard Wright in my eyes.

I was suprised at how quickly he adapted with the defence and his communication.

The defence looked a mess infront of Wright or Turner.

This could be another one of those "under the radar" or "stealth" type signings that Moyes has pulled off in the past.

Howard's the number one but it's great to have a good quality backup and one who can give you some depth at such an important position.

This raises an interesting point about posession etc. In the England thread it was often said that McClaren shouldn't drop the likes of Barry for big names such as Hargreaves, Lampard et al.

So, in relation to us, should Howard come back in or should Wessels be in posession now until he makes a mistake?
