Ha ha. I was thinking more of the privilege aspect than artistically.
Losing then replacing an iconic lead singer like Chester was always going to be a thankless impossible task, fair play to Emma for stepping up and the band for taking this career change, good to see them back. I like the new single, just try not to compare to Chester and you'll love it.
Starts at about 17mins and they n kick off with the new single
I think she was trying too hard to replicate his voice and that's not possible. He was unique. She has a great voice and she just needs to sing them her way. She'll be fine.Sounds like they just got a fan on stage or something, she has absolutely butchered those songs
Yeah, I was a bit cringed at some of the vocals but I can't imagine the pressure she was under and the nerves she must have had. As they go forward and she gets to sing more of her own vocals as opposed to trying to fill Chester's boots, she'll improve hopefully. Either way, took some balls to try to fill those boots.Sounds like they just got a fan on stage or something, she has absolutely butchered those songs

Her voice on the new song is great. On the old songs she was trying to emulate the gravelly voice Chester had which was forced and unnatural. But this was their first live performance. They'll know it didn't work and hopefully learn from it. She has to sing these songs in her own voice. They will never be as good as the originals but that was never going to happen whoever they brought in.Yeah, I was a bit cringed at some of the vocals but I can't imagine the pressure she was under and the nerves she must have had. There will be millions of fans worldwide who will be delighted to have the chance to see them live again and hear new material. Those that prefer to live in the past can do just that and play the old records and live footage.
I am so much more excited by this than the Oasis reunion.
Haha. You really don't like her do youWe'll see if this ends up being a big deal...
The Mars Volta's Cedric Bixler-Zavala Calls Out Emily Armstrong Over Scientology Ties
They also accuse her of supporting convicted rapist Danny Masterson.www.metalsucks.net

We'll see what the band say, if anything. Whilst I do think it's all a bit weird, being involved in Scientology isn't a crime in and of itself, and is quite common place in the entertainment industry in the US. Plus there were other people who were openly more supportive of Masterson at the time of his trial (Mila Kounis springs to mind) that haven't been cancelled. Being supportive after he has been found guilty is a different matter entirely but I'm not sure that is the case here.
I'm not defending her here btw, but I'm also not judging her either. I know not everybody is the same but I'm somebody who can generally separate the art from the artist. In my opinion she has a good voice, and her being involved in Scientology, or being a friend to somebody who turned out to be a rapist (that she probably was totally unaware of at the time) doesn't change that opinion.
