If you hover over your username up the top the drop down box should say Avatar as one of the options (like my picture below), click that and then upload the Avatar you want to use. I used to have a lovely one of Blackpool Illuminations.

I don't know how the player valuation works though I'm afraid.

Player valuation goes up dependent on how many trophies you win, with trophies 'awarded' dependent on your forum activity (how long you've been a member, how many posts youve made, how many likes you've received, syncing your account with social, referring someone etc etc) Still being configured.
