What is up with Dele Alli?

Wasn’t it genuine mental health issues due to childhood trauma and abuse rather than excuses?
There were questions regarding his attitude and lack of effort off the pitch before this came to light, its why we sent him out on loan originally, and why the Turkish club wanted to send him back so quickly after he arrived there. I`m not saying he didn`t have mental health issues, but it`s interesting that when his performance level dropped off a cliff, in his mid 20`s, then his childhood trauma and abuse became an issue.

After which we got the 2 years of not performing which showed that the cameo performance versus Palace may have been the last sight of the player he might had been.
Yes, it may well be.

If this is it for Dele and we don't see him play for Everton again, that would be a shame. I think that's probably the most likely outcome as things stand.

My point is that there's nothing wrong with hoping for that not to be the case - however unlikely it may be.

Grim post that.

It has always been an issue for him , during his early playing career he just managed to hide the issues and use substances to aid him.

It was all going to come crashing down on him eventually.

That's fine mate, I respect your stance. We all have different opinions, beliefs, ideals, etc., I will say however, that you don't have to be a charity in order to be charitable towards another human.

I'd say after we paid him > £10.2 million mate that Everton and Evertonians have been more than "charitable" enough

and enough is quite enough

I do appreciate you engage in proper discussion over it all 👍

I get what you mean, but wasn't the £10.2m more of a contractual obligation rather than "charity"? I mean both parties agreed on personal terms in respect of his contract length and salary to be paid etc.

Anyway, what's done is done, and we are where we are. From what I understand the squad has to be finalised by this weekend, so I guess we will see then if Dele has any future with Everton.

Id say paying someone 10m to not do anything for you is charity. You speak of contractual obligations, well the contract was we pay him money and he plays football for us. One of those things did not happen.

All players get paid when injured or unwell etc. unless specified otherwise in their contract. I don't believe you get to pick and choose who gets paid and who doesn't. No one can predict what will happen to a person in the future injury wise, as we've seen with other players who had been out long-term for us in the past.

Remember the phrase @Cels I'm my last post 👇

It all comes back to ths phrase

"We're a football club and a business, not a charity"

For me friend.

We've been ran like a charity by Denise Barrett-Baxendale and Bill Kenwright and idiot Moshiri
