With these new TV money deals, he might consider it worth his while to have another go at getting Everton through the glass ceiling. The alternative is to take pot luck with an unproven manager.

Ffs! Moyes invented the 'glass ceiling' because it was a ready made excuse for his lack of ability in taking us to the next level.

Moyes played the media game well, plucky little Everton, working wonders on a shoe-string etc. Seems he played it so well he got you convinced. Why would anyone want that man back knowing full well you'll never see any success?

Does not matter if we want Moyes back or not. It is not going to happen. For me- He is our history. Mostly good. Then disrespected us. I would never welcome him back. Like I say, Not relevant.

I don't want him back either but he continually over achieved compared to people who spent a similar amount on the squad

making us seem a smaller club than we actually are is something I don't like about him but but in terms of the correlation between league position and money spent he did "work wonders" so to speak. However in ten years time no one will remember a team that finished consistently in the top half, he left Everton fruitless.

Which teams broke through the glass ceiling in Moyes' time with us?

If Moyes was using it as an excuse then surely someone would have done it and proved him wrong?

What glass ceiling? Birmingham, Swansea, Portsmouth, Wigan to name a few all won trophies in Moyes time at this club.

I was pro-Moyes, for much of his time at the Club, near the end I had started to think we had reached a glass ceiling, his work in the transfer windows were superb, we were a hard to beat feared club, who mostly failed at the higher reaches of things, he wasnt able to find that 10%, he lacked a certain something.

Im not gonna re-write history like some, at times we played some great stuff, sometimes it was dire, but he knew how to grind out results, his comments after leaving werent great, but he wasnt Evertons manager anymore, so he had to do what was "right" for his current club.

He wasnt given a chance at United, he messed up big time by binning off the most successful backroom staff in the modern era, but I personally think Rio and his bunch of merrymen had deemed him unworthy from day 1 and his signing of Fellaini, for big money, from a "small" club like Everton certainly didnt give him ANY leeway from the cockney monkeys that are "United Fans".

So, do I think Moyes is a good manager? Yes, I do, nobody else could have taken Everton from where they were, to where he left them, NOBODY, but at the same time I dont think hes the right man for now, if he came back he would have a huge majority of the fanbase on his back from day 1 and sadly I think we or he would still lack that 10% needed.
Can someone please bring up our league record prior to Moyes taking over, think I already know the answer, I would suggest some fans disrespected him on that last day and last season when he come back, how you can barrack a manager that changed the whole outlook of our club, maybe some are just thick or were still in nappies.Dont take my word for it but the whole footballing media praised him to the hilt, off course every one of 5hen 8 wrong and some fans on here know best, thank god they never get within an inch of making any decisions at the club.

The glass ceiling clearly refers to league position.

I personally think finishing 4th-8th in almost EVERY season outweighs winning a cup when you might only have to play one of two Premier league teams. Swansea played Bradford in the final, Portsmouth played one Premier league team, Wigan two.

Maybe some of us were around when Everton actually won things and don't like to see a manager blame the club for his own limitations.

So can you bring our record up prior to him taking over. You must be right and every football journo must be wrong, happy easter.

Wigan beat us 3-0 at Goodison, I know I was there. We got knocked out of cups against Oldham and Shrewsbury ffs!

The glass ceiling is whatever Moyes wanted it to be.

You can take your 8th place trophies if you like, I'd prefer the club to win proper honours thank you.

You realise Everton aren't big news right? So the media don't really bother with us until something drastic happens. This season has been the same Martinez says we are unlucky haven't got what we deserve so most of the media repeat that message.

The media started getting on to Moyes near the end when Pardew and a few journos started calling him on his claims. If Martinez doesn't sort this soon they'll be on to him as well. Maybe make your own mind up mate instead of believing everything you read.

Didn't he then sign John Stones in the January?

EFC were 10th in the wages league when Moyes had us finishing in 5th-7th spot. The club over-achieved with him at the helm, based on that, not what Moyes said. The glass ceiling exists between 4th and 5th places, for obvious commercial reasons.

I've never understood the argument that doing worse in the league will increase our likelihood of winning trophies.
