Yes, everyone has said all the right things about Arteta and Lescott who on the field of play have both been truly magnificent this season but I have voted for neither why:

Is it just a coincidence that we have zoomed back up the table this season and into Europe or could it be more to do with Lee having a full season in the side compared to a full season out last term. When looking at performances on the pitch you should also look at extraneous matters off the pitch. Joelon, happily married with a young family living in the leafy Cheshire countryside, Mikel lad about town and can have the pick most women he fancies as in the main they all want him. Have a little look at this article about Lee, it really does make you think about stresses and strains he experiences everyday and what a man of his wealth chooses to put back into the community when he could afford not to, the guy is my hero and I think he may end up yours

Excellent article - one sentence basically sums up what Carsley means to the team "...for the man holding the side together..."

Lee Carsley is a God. No really, I mean it. You often don't get to see what he does by just watching the highlights. That's why on Saturday I decided to take a couple of minutes just to watch Cars. What I saw just confirmed what I thought about him being the hardest working member of the team. He never ever stops running. When the opponents are on a break and he's been up field, he sprints back to help out, and generally does so with success. He can win the ball, pass the ball, head the ball, and occasionally chips in with the odd vital goal. Brilliant player, we'll be a much poorer team without him.

Now I'm going to take a lie down because I'm sounding scarily like Darren W  ;)

Nice piece.

Cars is a very popular member of the team, in the programmes, in small talk everyone says hes the funniest.

100% agree with this and that is why he's my POY as well. In fact, I'm pretty sure I voted that way somewhere....

Agreed - a true Everton player and outstanding human being. We should all be very proud to have this man on our team.

A good family man, and its highly commendable that he helps other children and their families thats arent as well off as him and his family.

The issue i have is, that his son was ill last year, and will be next year, its his life now, and will be well after football.

If Tim Howard cured cancer, does he deserve player of the year?

I might sound a little cold hearted, and its no slight against cars or anyone else - i just know there are lots of people, footballers, and other professionals that cope with difficulty and go out of their way to help and support others.

You have a point, but in counter-point Cars has been ever-present this season, consistent, and possibly the main difference between this season and last, specially in the first few games when we got off to such a good start. He certainly could be player of year on merit IMO.
