Police say they do not know if a Russian man will make a full recovery after his ex-wife set fire to his penis.

Moscow police say the irate woman took exception to her former partner, following three years of acrimonious enforced co-habitation.

The crime was committed as the man sat naked watching television and drinking vodka.

The couple divorced three years ago but continued to live together in a small flat, something common in Russia where property costs are very high.

The wounded ex-husband told a local newspaper, "I don't know what I did to deserve this."
