Anybody got 1, the kids got 1 for Xmas. What i wanna know is about this wii-key thingy. Is this the thing that allows you to play copied games? I dont know anything about it, so if anybody could help. I mean do i get a wii-key and then burn the discs? How does it work?

yea you need a wii key to play backups of games (wii games that you burned using a dvd burner)

a wii-key needs to be soldered to be installed, which voids your warranty, and as i understand it there are still some kinks being worked out.

i just got a wii for christmas myself, though i'm not too sure what i'm going to do with it (i'm more than satisified with my N64), but look into the Twilight Hack. I'm not sure if it still works, but basically it exploits a glitch in the new zelda game for wii and allows you to run other games (presumably in place of a mod chip like wii-key). basically you replace the file for a horses name with something else, and it will run whatever that file is, you can find some tutorials on how it works exactly online. i'm heading off to the store to pick up a copy of the game myself to possibly give it a try.
 
Our kids have had a Wii for a few months now and love it.

Got mainly kids games on it like:

De Blob
Lego Star Wars
Mario Party 8
Mario Kart

etc....
 
likewise kids got 1 for crimbo, is de blob any good ? got sports, play, carnival, will have to get mariocart i think as ds 1 is really good.
i thought wii-key was for stuff from the online shop tbh.
 

the wii is a life saver, ive had 1 for 6 months however went on it for the first week and not touched it since but yesterday my laptop screen cracked so all my internet use is done on the wii. The down side is its taken me 10 mins to type this message, hope there is a keyboard you can buy for it otherwise dont think will be posting to much

connect laptop to tv, if you can get to the screen settings you can set it to use the telly.
 
cheers reidy have been trying to do that all morning but struggling to make it bigger on my tv besides gonna be sent away for repair today and plus all this aiming at the letters with the wii remote should make me a better player lol

use the gun (y) or the cue (y) never the wiff-waff paddle.
can you use the nunchuck to move around keyboard ?
 
Does the Wii have any USB ports? If so go buy a cheap USB keyboard and bung it on there and type happily away.
 
there are 2 usb on the back, plugged the remote stand and charger in there, not sure what else can be hooked up though, there are sd slots, some that look as if they are for wired controllers, and some for big chunky flash cards, are these for using old nintendo games and controllers ?
