Wolves fined....

Just read that Wolves have been fined £25k for fielding a "weakened" side against United a few months back.

Absolute joke IMO. Especially when your top 4 tend to chop and change for cup competitions, basically putting out the youth sides, and in league games when other things (Champs League mainly) take priority....see many relegation scraps where this has happened and the kick off over it.

Sick of the FA to be fair.

The fine is suspended, Wolves played Spurs an few days earlier and won then beat Burnley after the Man U game. Seems like fair squad rotation to me, Like kenada_blue says not too different from the sky4 clubs policy in competitions they deem less important.

He probably figured they were going to get stuffed anyway, so rested his team for the following match.

It's the fans that have my sympathy.
They get to the Prem, then face possibly the best team in Europe and one of, if not the,the biggest team in the world, and their manager pulls the plug.

Ridiculous. Especially if you think about the amount of times bigger teams rest players. Even if you look at Arsenal it seems they get away with playing youngsters every cup match.

Either way....Arle Mick would do it again to keep his side up. He won the Burnley game the following week...those 3 points could keep em up.

He'd take a fine just to do that.

Man utd, as mentioned, have done it in the pass along with Liverpool against Fulham before an CL game I think. So much for a level playing ground then? Though I think the Premier League is right to do this ( and the F.A should do the same with cup games) I hope they do the exact same if bigger clubs than wolves and the likes of the sky four field a weak side.

Edit: Just to add, what counts as a weaken team? How many players on the usual starting sheet are not on the starting 11?

That's the point he made. Most teams have something like a 20 odd player squad, which is the excuse the sky 4 make. Why he couldnt be allowed to use them undermines having a "squad" of players really.

I saw this today and about put my fist through my monitor.

Travesty of the game for Wolves to be fined like that. Really really puts the FA in a bad light (not that they weren't already).

My attitude was basically "Who the f^&k do they think they are?"

I'd be pretty pee'd off if I paid £30 to watch Everton and out strolled the kids that played against Bootle last week.

The fixture pile up puts pressure on clubs to pace themselves, but for a fan, it's basically the same as going to watch Take That at the MEN Arena, and paying a pricely sum for the priviledge, only for the warm up act to play the whole gig.

Football is becoming far too business minded, and forgets who pays the bills, be it directly or indirectly.

In few businesses ( except Mcdonalds) could you charge a customer for a product, give them something hugely inferior, and get away with it.

The problem they've got now is that they need to fine every team that does this now otherwise Wolves have a case of being punished unfairly. Let's wait and see if Man Utd, Chelsea or whoever get fined for fielding a weakened side should they win the league with a game or two to spare.
