I see the bigwigs in charge have decided to pay the woman the same as the men get. Great to see progressive thinking at long last rather than these stuffy old boys club people in charge. Well done cricket

I don't follow it, nor do I follow Limited overs stuff, male or female. I'd say pay should be commensurate with the crowds it draws though. I believe they've been getting bigger for the women's game. If they overtake men's crowds then women should be paid more, obviously.
Bit difficult to base just on crowd size. Not 100 percent sure it's the same with the cricket, but often in football the crowds are high for the women's game because the ticket price is significantly lower or even free.I don't follow it, nor do I follow Limited overs stuff, male or female. Would the argument hold that players from div 4 football with smaller crowds, be paid the same as div 1 players?
I mean ... we are very often told about strong independent women these days. Should they not have an independent game, with independent pay, rather than piggy back on what the men have established?
Well yes - not simply crowd size, but overall income.Bit difficult to base just on crowd size. Not 100 percent sure it's the same with the cricket, but often in football the crowds are high for the women's game because the ticket price is significantly lower or even free.
You'd also have to factor in sponsorship, TV deals, money spent by punters in the crowd etc.
