Would it have been better for the United Kingdom had Islam been the main religion?

How can you describe any faith as inclusive and embracing diversity if it represses half of its population - women? (I realise that Christianity has also done that- but not to the point where they get beaten up by morality police foe not wearing the club outfit.)

I think the world would be a better place if we had a global set of rationality based morals and ditched the superstitions of the past that flourished before mankind and education started explaining the cosmos based on observation snd measurement. All religions hold us back.

My vote goes for Pastafarism.

I think the whole world would be a better place if we all believed in the flying spaghetti monster.

In the spirit of constructive discourse, let's engage in a thought experiment to explore why having Islam as the main religion of the United Kingdom,

Cultural Diversity and Inclusivity:
One of the key benefits of an alternate history where Islam is the main religion in the UK could be the cultural diversity and inclusivity it would promote. Islam is a religion practiced by people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Embracing such diversity may have led to a more inclusive and tolerant society from the beginning.

Global Diplomacy and Trade:
Islam has a vast global presence, with millions of followers around the world. Having Islam as the dominant religion might have facilitated stronger ties with countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, potentially benefiting the UK in terms of diplomacy and trade. This could have expanded economic opportunities and international relations.

Scientific and Intellectual Contributions:
Throughout history, Islamic civilisation made significant contributions to various fields, including mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and philosophy. If Islam had been the main religion in the UK, the country might have been more influenced by these advancements, potentially accelerating scientific and intellectual progress.

Greater Understanding of Different Cultures:
The prominence of Islam could have led to a greater emphasis on understanding and respecting different cultures and belief systems. A more profound cross-cultural dialogue could have shaped the UK's history, fostering greater tolerance and acceptance of diversity.

Art and Architecture:
Islamic art and architecture are known for their intricate designs and geometric patterns. If Islam had played a more central role in the UK's history, we might have seen a different architectural landscape and artistic heritage, enriching the nation's cultural tapestry.

In conclusion, whilst contemplating the idea of Islam as the predominant religion in the United Kingdom, one cannot help but envision a nation that could have reaped numerous benefits throughout its history. The potential advantages of such an alternate path are indeed compelling, in my opinion.

Mate, did you just start a new save of Civilization?

Nah! i’m a tea leaf mate, I‘d have had both hands chopped off or been bricked to death by now!

No. Less toes on show the better if you ask me. I don't really care though. I'm just glad I'm not Haitian.
