WSAG

I tried the other day and Rivals Net was down. Don't know.

it was by far the most entertaining source of everton info... even if usually it was posted a couple of days late. mark o' brien the main writer has a huge talent.

i just hope it's a glitch...

It's gone on rivals forever, with the rest of the [Poor language removed] forums I think.

No great loss. WSAG the fanzine was unmissable and groundbreaking for a decade or more. Then it became an embarrasing mess. And dont even talk about the web board version. Horrendous.

Anyway, for those with withdrawal symptoms, 5 things you wont miss about WSAG:

  • The too cool for school self elected elite
  • Shanklygate wars
  • the arcane references to some floppy fringed [Poor language removed] Liverpool band from the late 70s/early 80s
  • hours of threads talking about what they're having for their tea
  • lists of 5

It's just a webstore atm I think. they say they're working on a new site.

I really like WSAG the match reviews and previews are hilarious sometimes.

I enjoy WSAG and look forward to its return. A fine stable of writers that convey humour and intellect. Can only fathom why they are unliked because of their unwillingness to regularly grind an axe.

yes, i agree. it's a big loss reading about the blues online now their site is down/unavailable.

I saw this the other day on a rival site that WSAG may now be non-existent and may or may not be back, I haven't tried to visit to verify this, but word has it that it's been removed for whatever reason is unclear.

The main guy, O'Brien was always good for a snigger with his surreal and sometimes below the belt wordisms and his co-writers also hit the spot more often than not, even if each articule was a little brief.

What I enjoyed the most was that the post-match reports were quick, well written, articulate and always a good read, unlike a certain EFC site (the name has been removed to protect the guilty) which after a fixture, did not (usually) include a post-match report, more often than not due to late night and weekend alcohol partcipation by the match reporters, for instance, if Everton had a result on the Saturday you would be lucky to hear about it by Tuesday, and even when the report did come it was badly written, full of profanity, and not only seemed like it had been done by a group of badly behaved pre-pubescent schoolboys, but at times made me wonder what exactly they were refering to such was the number of times it was so incoherent and went off-route.

Anyway, will be missing WSAG if it has gone, some fine and amusing articules to be had there, hope it makes a return some day.

Very good writer in his pomp. In fact, exceptional in fanzine terms. That's why his clunky, leaden-footed offerings in the local rag are a huge disappointment. Maybe he has to watch his step in what he writes for Trinity Mirror and that's taken his edge away?

As someone weaned fanzine-wise on the 'beacon cheeks'/'those loveable reds' era, I hope for sentimental purposes the paper copy is still doing the rounds. I threw a load of them out a fortnight ago and I'm beginning to regret it now. :(
