Yannick Bolasie

And that's all I said. We overpaid.

I still don't rate Bolasie by the way. From what I saw at Palace, he can be as impressive as he's looked so far, but absolutely anonymous too. Far too early to come to a conclusion either way - we're looking at December/January before we can say he's "worth" £30m.

We can without a doubt say that Gana is worth £7m right now though, on the other hand.
My point was it does not matter how much we paid for him as no player is worth the millions of pounds that teams pay for them, and it really isn't the players fault that they are bought for that amount. If we can afford it then, ah well we've paid that much. He is a bit of an enigma tho I'll agree on that, but if he puts in a few crosses for Rom and wins us the odd game I'll be happy.

This is a wind up, right?

You are trying to out Dave, Dave?

We played well once last season in the league, away to the saint mutants.

Thought we were rubbish that game as well actually. Pelle could have scored 2 before we did. We put three good counter attacks together but for once finished them cleanly. Southampton bossed the ball though. The signs were there of things to come but the scoreline was impressive. I think the two Chelsea games at home in the league and cup plus the City semi home leg were in my opinion the best performances last season. Villa and Sunderland were woeful and rightly were beaten (although let's not mention the away fixture)

We overpaid for him. He's not worth £30m. He's a £15-20m player. Which is all I said.

Get your facts right.

If you read the original message i quoted you'd of seen we were referencing Gueye not Bolasie, my comments were about him vaulting people about Gueye.

You get your facts right.

Yeah I do understand that, but ultimately I felt he was a player who you'd pay £15-20m for at the most, so we overpaid because he was a domestic player we could buy easily, rather than because the price we paid was his true worth.

In my eyes, we've looked at others abroad, couldn't get them to come, and then when we've received the Stones windfall we've panicked and brought in someone for a decent fee.

I really don't think Bolasie is worth £30m, and I really don't think he's done anything to change my view on that yet.

OK, well, again, I said Gueye was a fine idea for a squad filler, but at that point we needed a "big" transfer to state our aim in the league and send a message to other players that this was a project worth getting on board for.

As the transfer ultimately went, that ended up being the case. My only point with Gueye was he wasn't a transfer that would say "yes, Everton are going places."

Fair enough, TBH I don't think he's worth that but he defo offers something to the team that we previously didn't have.

He's been good. £15m good. Not £30m good.

But then Gueye has been £60m good, so if we pay double Bolasies worth for Bolasie, but pay a seventh of what Gueye is worth, it balances out to say the least!

I only tagged you to tease you really, I find myself agreeing with you on most things and Zandvort brought my attention to a rare circumstance where that wasn't the case.

At least one "big" transfer did feel, and i imagine ultimately will feel like it needed to happen though, i agree. A Mata, say. In the coming months i do worry that we'll regret not having that extra bit of quality.

Think we need to forget what people cost. We paid what we needed to get the transfer's done. Gueye has looked a fantastic signing, Bolasie has looked good. He seems to bringing out the best of Lukaku, so he's worth every penny.

It actually wasn't.

Whether the revisionists want to or not, that first season cannot be expunged from the record books.

That accounts for 33% of his time here.

The European venture was an absolute delight until his brain fart with Alcaraz in the latter stages.

And even up to the Christmas of last season, Everton were terrific to watch.

The last three or four months of his reign were horrendous, no doubt about that and the sacking was both justified and inevitable, but the whole three years were not as bad as some of our friends would have you believe.

Seasons 2 and 3 absolutely were as disastrous as that actually.
