Yannick Bolasie

He's been good. £15m good. Not £30m good.

But then Gueye has been £60m good, so if we pay double Bolasies worth for Bolasie, but pay a seventh of what Gueye is worth, it balances out to say the least!
Compared to the players that were bought and sold for that kind of money in the summer Bolasie has proved to be 30m good.

If he keeps this up he will prove himself to be 30m good compared to players bought in the last few years. I really like him and did before we bought him.

Seasons 2 and 3 absolutely were as disastrous as that actually.

We are talking about the Martinez era in its entirety and the fact it wasn't a complete wasteland.

And by no stretch of anyone's imagination was the first season owt but extremely good.

To argue otherwise is to argue for argument's sake.

OK, well, again, I said Gueye was a fine idea for a squad filler, but at that point we needed a "big" transfer to state our aim in the league and send a message to other players that this was a project worth getting on board for.

As the transfer ultimately went, that ended up being the case. My only point with Gueye was he wasn't a transfer that would say "yes, Everton are going places."
??????

Spot on. If true, this is a really worrying sign of things to come.

He might even be good, but he shouldn't be our first signing of the season as we get closer to August. Things looking grim.

Stats mean nothing for defensive players at a club like Villa. 'keeper probably had better stats than Schmeichel because he was peppered with shots all season, doesn't mean a thing.

The point is this Gueye was part of a unit responsible for being one of the worst sides in Premier League history. By all means, we could bring him in as a squad signing in August or whatever, but for him to be the first 'major' signing of the Moshiri era is a terrible message to send out.

Just utterly underwhelming.

Difference is Kante was new to the league and dominated it.

Gueye was new to the league and was part of one of the worst defensive units I've ever seen.

Prepared to give him a chance, but people are underwhelmed for a reason.

Maybe, but maybe not. Leicester added Kante and Mahrez and they were entirely different side due to their quality.

Gueye added nothing to Villa.

As said, hope for the best, but there's nothing for people to be excited about with this one - it's an underwhelming squad signing until he proves otherwise.

Tubes that's Lukaku, Gueye and Bolasie. Im noticing a pattern. What do they have in common?

Disgusting.

If we're going to talk about cup runs til the cows come home then what I will say is we were crap in the cups in 13/14. So there's that.

Ok, I see what you're saying about the distinction between Bolasie and the wide men we had here. But is it true? Over his PL career he's created 16 assists total...roughly 4 per season.

Hopefully that improves with better players with more intelligent movement around him.

He could have had 7 assists already if the strikers finished the chances

Bleach by the gallon

Utter aids of a player, like Kone bad.

5 goals, 3 assists last season, the same as Jon Walters.

Swerve big time.

Would love him here. Natural left winger, fast, explosive with the ball and a good crosser. Beat us to bits in 2014. Single-handedly dashed our champions league dreams.

I think I'm the only one here who seems to think he's a decent player. A bit enigmatic but definitely talented.

Lol
So it seems that we do have a few posters who know what they are talking about

Forgot he got one for Palace a few years back, this was a right horrorshow of a match!!!

Timothy Howard there

My big fear was we were buying a player that could be outstanding or a passenger in games.
I have watched him and thought he looked powerful and dangerous, then you see the stats and listen to people over him being anonymous in games. My early conclusion of him was that we were getting a player that will excite and frustrate. On watching him I can't believe his work rate and how well he has settled into the team, looks like he has been there for years.
As ever I like to give players 10 games to give a fair view point, but think in this case I can say we have signed a very good player..

Great signing...
