Don’t think he’s the type to work his arse off to get fit.

Pointless having this ‘brilliant’ defender constantly on the injury table.

Another one for the bin.

He got injured playing two games in three days when Everton advised Colombia against it.

It's also a hamstring injury. He hasn't had one of those this season IIRC.

And, given it's a hamstring injury, it's not something you can just 'work off'. If that hamstring goes then you're knackered. For good.

When he's played, he's done well enough. It's hard to gauge because of the injuries, but he's 24 and has plenty of time on his side. He's got all the attributes, probably just needs a bit more nous (which should come with age). He's also on a long-term deal here. Frustrating, but why the need to go completely over the top and write him off?

We spent £27m on a defender who has spent most of the season being second choice to Zouma and Keane.

Hardly surprising that a few people have questioned whether he’s much good.

lol yeah, that’s it. It’s not like people are outright writing him off and consigning him to the scrap heap after about 10 games. They’re just questioning whether he’s much good.

Some bizarre takes in here. He's played well for us. Monster in the air and excellent with the ball. He's only been hurt. That's it.

The manager has already questioned his work rate at Finch Farm. He’s been injured for pretty much an entire season, he only played 6 games for Barcelona prior to that, too.

We need players who are actually going to play, especially when we’ve forked out £28m-£30m.

There is no other way to spin this signing, it’s been another flop.

Nope, just nope.

He hasn’t really been a monster in the air for us though? He looks like he should be, and he may well be in future, but he’s been strangely lacking in that area in a defensive capacity in my opinion.

If I’m honest I’ve not been hugely impressed with him. He’s been a little bit slow, rash, not as good in the air as I had hoped, and occasionally looks extraordinarily clumsy with the ball. BUT he’s fairly young, in a new country, and hasn’t played a lot of games, so he gets a free pass from me this season. No idea why we’re rewriting history to say he’s been dead good though. I’m possibly keanes biggest critic and even I’d say Keane has looked much better than him so far.
