Everton centre-half Joseph Yobo has emphasized his desire to see Yakubu Aiyegbeni in an Everton shirt after enthusing his Nigerian colleague would be a "world class" addition to the club.
In the midst of heavy speculation regarding several Everton bids for the player, the classy defender has expressed his delight at the prospect of Yakubu pulling on the royal blue jersey.
“I want Yakubu to join us here, definitely." Stated Joseph on Tuesday night.
“You are always looking for world-class players to join your team and make things better. Yakubu is one such player and I’ll be glad if he and players of his stature join us."
Yobo also praised the quality already existent in the Everton squad, particularly evident during last nights dominant 3-1 away win against the highly-regarded Tottenham Hotspurs.
“I’m a defender and I’m looking for good midfielders and attackers who can take the pressure off me. If the move doesn’t happen there are already players here who can keep us in the fight."
Whilst playing down the ambitions of Everton this season, Yobo recognises the boundless possibilities available to a young Toffees side in the near future.
“Could we ever win the Premier League? It’s absolutely possible if we build on our recent successes.
"If we build on our European experience this season plus investments in players, we can challenge the top four for the title.”
