Inter to leave San Siro   as Moratti orders new stadium - Gazzetta dello Sport

the main example thats always put forward regarding ground sharing is about to be brought to an end.
juventus are also to leave the stadio olimpico in turin as they are building a new 40,000 seat stadium "inside" their old (built in 1990 so not exactly the coloseum) stade del alpi.
aparently munich 1860 dont like playing in the allianz as well.
it does work in other large footballing cities though so it doesnt always end in divorce.

just been loking for pics of the san siro, heres what it looked like from the outside before they rebuilt it, although what they did was add another tier.

i remember it from the time when joe jordan and mark hately went to a.c. milan, they would show goals on monday mornings from the sunday, it was always rammed there and they had a terrace there with a distinctive fence around.
you can see the old stadium beneath the new

heres a vid of hateley banging a header in against inter, you can see the huge terrace all around

Not really that different to Kirkby. Just replace the Fiat's with shopping trolleys. I've seen many a youth cavorting about in one on a weekend. Who needs mass transit? We have our own monorail service right there. You could stack them all up against each other and fit thousands in there to get people home after the game. Think this deserves patenting.

The thing is though none of the Italian clubs own there own ground their owned by the council and they just rent them.

Awsome stadium though! Pity its hardly ever full!
