As much as I'd like to say the USA, I'm going to go with Uruguay. They're looking pretty sharp.

Darkhorses for me would be Chile, good to watch. I've got money on Germany so I will stick with them still.

Yes Uruguay look strong. Lugano the captain at the back is solid, they have 2 dogs of war in midfield and then a bit of class upfront with Suarez and Forlan. Add to that the relative easiness of the run they have to the semis and anybody who backed them at a big price before the tournament has a great chance of collecting.

Have to agree on Uruguay. The South American teams certainly seem to have settled well to the task but the winner of England-Germany will have a big boost in confidence and Spain will still get better.

I've always said Paraguay will do will, as will Chile and Uruguay. These South American teams are generally underrated. Not in my opinion though.

I'll go for Paraguay because no one else has! :D

South american teams are very tough. You could argue qualifying in that region is most difficult & competitive. Very few easy games. Even non-powerhouses can cause tough challenges not common in europe (ie-altitude in bolivia).

Uruguay made it via playoff w/ costa rica. UEFA is set up to give easier paths to power nations, so any big teams in playoffs usually "slipped up". Conmebol is straight up 1 table dogfight.

Can't believe missed prediction league, LOVED chile & uruguay from day 1.

Torn between those 2.....so I'll go U.S. & of A.!!!!:D

European teams would be as good as the SA ones if they'd change qualification to get rid of the minnows. Unless a Crouch hattrick against Lichenstein and San Marino excites you I'm not sure how a team expects to get better playing them. It would be alot more exciting if say England was in a group with say Russia, Italy, etc.

Dark Horse: Paraguay

I can honestly call USA a dark horse because I can honestly say they've a decent chance to make the semis past Ghana, then South Korea or Uruguay.

After that? Well the other half of the bracket's a bloody suicide run, it'll likely be Netherlands-Italy and Brazil-Spain. I'd be willing to believe in our chances against Italy or Spain, not so much Netherlands or Brazil. But you never know.
