Bolton 0-2 Everton

Second-half goals from Marouane Fellaini and Apostolos Vellios secure a 2-0 victory over Bolton at the Reebok to lift Everton to 8th in the league.

Everton gained an extra man advantage after just 19 minutes when Bolton found themselves reduced to 10 men after David Wheater saw red for his lunge on Diniyar Bilyaletdinov.

From then on, Bolton, on a torrid run of form looking to avoid a tenth defeat in 13 outings, were always going to struggle to maintain impressive resilient record against the Toffees of not losing to David Moyes´ men at the Reebok Stadium since 2008.

Though with Everton typically struggling in the final third, with one particular fan in out forum perhaps aptly describing our first half showing as “showing the penetration of an 80 year old man who had lost his Viagra prescription” – Bolton managed to get to the half time interval goalless.

But Fellaini broke the deadlock just four minutes after half-time. Diniyar Bilyaletdinov fired in a low cross for Fellaini to slide in from close range to divert the ball into the roof of the net to put Everton ahead.

From then on, the three points never looked in doubt and substitute Apostolos Vellios made absolutely sure of that 12 minutes from time.

Baines crossed the ball in from the left, Tim Cahill stretched to knock it back across the face of goal and Vellios had no problem converting to wrap up the three points.
