I didn't really appreciate the agony and frustration of foot injuries until I had one myself around October. All I did was put weight on the wrong part of the foot - sort of going over on the side with all my weight on it - and it took around eight weeks to get better, and even now it still hurts if I make a wrong movement, even though I am back playing.

Doubtful you'll have had the top class physios and sports scientists working on you Barkley will

"Ross had a knock in his toe against Queens Park Rangers and we all felt that it would settle and he'd be able to play today," the Blues boss told evertontv. "As it turned out, I think it's a bit more serious than we expected and it could be a fracture in his metatarsal and we need to assess it in the next few days"

this is the bit I don't understand, surely if theirs a fracture/break whatever we would get an x ray done today/tomorrow rather than assessing it over the week? without an x ray their would be no way of knowing so is it possible they think it might not be anything and are waiting to see how he feels in a few days?

I have the feeling Martinez is pulling a bit of a fast one with this Barkley injury story. Like Big Doug just said the club would know very quickly the extent of the injury if a fracture was suspected. He´ll be out a couple of weeks me thinks, not months.

looking back through the bbc fixture list Baines was injured on the 23rd November against the RS and came back against Southampton on 29th December so just over 4 weeks, so if Barkleys injury is anything similar or fingers crossed slightly less severe considering his has looked less concerning compared to Baines's, then he might just make it time for the derby or villa game with him being out a week already and it being near 2 1/2 weeks til the derby fingers crossed!

I think he'll make it for the derby. Like you say he's already had the injury a week.

Bit gutted about this, but we should cope, and we'll be stronger than ever for the last 1/3 of the season when he comes back.

Roberto has also mentioned that there's the chance that Gibson could be back around April.
