The remaining 14 Games

Just a note, this is not a “prediction thread” it’s more of expectations and targets from set of games combined, we are currently averaging 1.875 point per game, which should give us 71 points at the end of the season, I divided the games into categories and the outcome of logical (based on the season so far) gave me exactly the same outcome, 71 points.

Now with every game we play, I will update the thread and see if we are achieving what we are supposed to achieve, underachieving or overachieving.

This has nothing to do with finishing 4[SUP]th[/SUP] or not, we might get 73 points and still finish outside top 4 or we might finish 4[SUP]th[/SUP] with less than 70 points.

FWIW, even if we don't make CL or even Europa place, there'll still be great pride for me if we can do any of the following:

- Finish above our ex-manager
- Finish above our dear neighbours
- Claim our highest ever PL points tally

Proud of the way this season has gone. Nothing's going to take away the good memories I have of being an Everton supporter this year.

Exactly

I think Arsenal could get a win vs the RS coming up next weekend, could see them losing to the RS in the cup though as they have Bayern around that time in the CL. ideal scenario would be 3 points for us and an Arsenal win but any points gained but us and lost by them is decent

Spurs (A) - WIN
Palace (H) - WIN
Chelsea (A) - LOSE
West Ham (H) - WIN
Newcastle (A) - DRAW
Cardiff (H) - WIN
Swansea (H) - DRAW
Fulham (A) - DRAW
Arsenal (H) - LOSE
Sunderland (A) - WIN
United (H) - DRAW
Southampton (A) - DRAW
City (H) - LOSE
Hull (A) - WIN

A grand old total of 68 points if my "math" is correct!

I have a very unusual, ill-deserved feeling of confidence about the Spurs game - at home the pressure is on them and their £100 million squad.

We won't beat Spurs, nope.

Why not? Another good set of results next weekend and we'd be in the driving seat. That'd be a huge morale hit for Liverpool after they so recently smashed us all over Anfield... I can dream.

I see threads akin to this on red café and other blogs and they always bring a sardonic smile to my grill.

I have 7 words and a date which illustrates the futility of potential future points prediction:

Everton versus Sunderland at Goodison : Boxing Day 2013

It's so hard to tell, a lot depends on injury, form, other teams injurys and form. Not to forget the pressure that will pile onto some teams in the run in for various reasons.

All we can do is take it game by game. There will certainly be some unexpected lost points, aswell as some unexpected Gaines points. The key for me is not to be drawing to many games in the run in, they really are false points 90% of the time.

Spurs for a start is a 50/50 game. Could go either way, hope its our way.

Jay has nicely demonstrated that 71 points is achievable. And that's very much the kind of target that we should be aiming for. My view is that we'll most likely end somewhere in the range between 65 and 70. There are a number of factors that could drag us down. One, which we've seen already, is our comparatively small squad and the fact that, even when fit, we're calling on the same players to perform at the same level for us week in week out, which is a big ask. One unknown factor is that so many clubs are getting dragged into the relegation dogfight. Fulham, Sunderland and Hull away could be a different proposition if some or all of those clubs are desperate for points when they meet us.

So do I - Everton versus Aston Villa at Goodison : February 1st
I predicted an Everton win, and it actually happened
