Summer transfer window 2023

Think someone did ask precisely this before the end and Dyche got quite prickly about saying when he’d play Chermiti and then banged on about how it was all down to the structure and clubs being willing to deal with us. Got the impression that Dyche had no intention of ever playing Chermiti.
So if that’s the case why did he not veto the deal?

The club now briefing that they are deliberately underbidding for players is an interesting strategy.
While also alerting Southampton to the fact we probably could pay the 5m up front for Adams, and making sure he knows if we do eventually do so that we've exhausted all other avenues to avoid signing him. It's really clever stuff all round.

25/26m? I'm sure it's just the way he's phrased it, but can totally imagine the scenario...

Us: Hello. We'd like to bid 25m or 26m for Beto please?

Them: Well, which is it? 25m or 26m?

Us: Well, we'd prefer 25m. Is that ok?

Them: We'll choose, 26m, thanks.

Us: Are you sure we can't tempt you with 25m? We'd much prefer it.

Them: But you said 26m, so obviously we're going to choose that one.

Us: Oh. When you put it like that, it was a bit silly of us. Ok then. 26m it is! We bid 26m for Beto.

Them: Thanks.

Us: Do you accept?

Them: No. He costs 35m which you well know.

Us: Can we talk about 25m again?

Them: *click*
Or another scenario could be lets use our contacts to tweet bids that we haven't even made and we know would be rejected even if we had so that it looks like we are trying to bring players in.

The problem I have with all these phantom bid "they're just trying to keep the fans happy" theories is that quite clearly the fans are not in fact being kept happy and it's going to take more than a transfer rumour about a Udinese striker to change that, but mostly that it presupposes that anyone in a position of power at the top of Everton gives a rat's ass whether we're happy or not.

It's just a reflex for them now, they've been doing it for so long they don't know how to stop.

Fraudrizio Romano spreading garb about Everton again. Moshiri is whispering in his ear, wouldn't be surprised if he was on commission at this point.

Beto lowball bid? Beto has an attainable release clause that hasn't been spoken about until now?
We bid for Etikite weeks ago and now he prefers a prem move?

Nope.

Nope.
What is his release clause?

Also all those everton ITKs who claimed at had a £15m fee accepted, then back tracked to say we were haggling over a £5m upfront payment. Now suddenly we haven't agreed a fee and Southampton want £18m. Benj and Bobble may know a team sheet 5 mins before it's released but it's all looking a bit silly when it comes to transfers this window
