Good players don’t want to play for him, DCL will walk away and Branthwaite to
We won’t attract players to play his style one win against a poor team doesn’t change nothing. He’s not a long term manager for a team that wants to kick on

That's a 2 minded thing, possibly 8/10 realistic managers would not getting more points than 48 last season with the squad we had.

But I am as sure that you would see more of a suitable playing idea from 8 out of 10 managers as well than Dyche after I'd say 16 months, he had time to develop the team.

DCL would be really useful in an old fashioned 4-4-2. There’s always the CF whose better off the ball, occupying the centre backs, running the channels, and linking play with the other CF who’s more cynical.

….or more realistically with a no10 who has the athleticism and desire to get alongside and beyond him and then have the genuine quality to exploit chances created.

We need another Ndiaye type of signing for the Right wing, that on both wings would already be an upgrade. Good job on that Kev!

As I said, our team is individually better than last season, but not better in the league comparison.

That for me means you should see some progress during possession. Dyche now had 2 summers to implement parts of the promised direct counter attacking football.

You don't see a lot in this matter.
we cant be the lowest spenders in the league and think he is implementing all of his dreams.

If you are 20th highest spenders then we are doing well not being 20th

I wonder where we would be with:
A fit Branthwaite
A top RB, RW & CM

I think we can see what happens this season but Dyche will need to get us 8th-10th to have a chance of staying on.

If we managed to finish 8th, surely he wouldnt be sacked.

Some decent points but

1. Do you not think that Mykolenko was given very little protection at LB
and
2. Young was given good cover on his side ?

I say that as someone who rates Ndayie very highly ( prefer him at 10 though) and doesn't think that Harrison gives us anything offensively

I think its a bit hard to tell seeing as Ndiaye was taking chances going forward and Mykolenko was also driving forward at times towards DCL centrally...

...on the right they both seemed keen to stay back.

Not something i thought about today though as the opposition were so poor and yet cut through our midfield like butter at times.

If he finished 8th this season...it poses the question though.

Not saying im in favour of him staying. Theres alot we dont know at this stage.

There comes a time in every pragmatist managers life when the pragmatism is no longer needed (when safety is secured) and they are afforded the chance to show they can progress the style etc.

It happened to Allardyce with us, but he continued to play the absolute awful football to grind out points.

Usually this is because they can’t do anything other than pragmatism.

If we finished 8th, it’s safe to assume we were safe from relegation with many games to spare so that opportunity would be there. When Burnley got into Europe, was there any change in style that season?

He should see out the season unless he has a mega doo doo run and we are threatened with relegation. I ain't crazy about it but why waste the money unless the right guy wants the job.
It's more than the money too, a good calibre manager is likely to want to make an orderly change in the summer rather than dive in mid-season so we will likely have a better choice of manager if we can hold off. It won't necessarily be much fun but if he can keep us relatively comfortable this season I imagine TFG will be happy to hold off.

Call me jaded, but I'll be well happy if we can just have a bit of boring stability. If ever a club needed a steady eddie manager for a few years, then surely it's us?

I am aware of that, so I never think we had a bottom 3 squad in any of the season tho, I can name 5-6 worse teams this season. We should finish top bottom half with that squad, anything above is overachievement, everything below underachievement

The question now is that we spent 1/3 of our total budget on the 4th choice CB. We paid a price that was in line with the market, but we have no use for him. So was that a smart transfer, knowing Offense was the bigger problem than defense last season.

The table is pretty close now, we have pretty favorable fixtures in the next weeks and are 3 points away from 9th.

Good chance to get a good distance to the relegation spots as we are likely to drop in December.
