2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

What about the people who say with absolute certainty that we set up yesterday exactly the same way we did against Saints? Y'know, because he never, ever makes any adjustments apparently.

I've actually been quite surprised that we rarely look to employ the low block these days, but according to some, it's all we ever do - y'know, don't try to win, just cling on for dear life 38 times a season. It's not what I've been seeing though tbh, so it's one of 3 things: People aren't actually watching us play, and just assume that's what we do week in week out because they reckon Dyche doesn't know any other way. People don't understand that there can be a difference between being an organised well drilled side and a side that uses the low block, or they're just blinded by preconceptions so assume that every game we don't score is because the manager is so defensive minded and we spent the whole game camped on the edge of our box.
I was replying to chico about the wolves manager

Well he didn’t relegate us, so just doing the exact same thing as this guy who has now been here close to 2 years with no improvement what so ever
None of the above is true. Dyche improved us in his first season, and then improved us again last season. He's also never had us on 15 points and in 19th place after 20 games, so no, he's definitely not doing exactly the same thing. These are unquestionable facts.

Have we gone backwards compared to last year? Yeah, a little bit. It could be argued that it's a tougher league this year. Now I'm not gonna sit here and start comparing every team to last years teams, but what I will point out is that you need more points this year to be in the top half than you did at the same stage last season, though it's taking less points to be in the top 4. It doesn't prove a lot, but it does show that every season has different dynamics and progress can't always be measured accurately against the season before. I do admit we've gone backwards a bit though, but not to the extent that many believe. I believe we're underachieving by about 3/4 points, but I also acknowledge that he bought himself some time when we looked like we might spiral, and since then, current form is actually not too bad.

, we need to give someone 3/4yrs but not someone like dyche who’s only interested in survival and no progress we are actually getting worse under him, which you wouldn’t think was possible.

And Napoli are a side that have been going for the title over the last few years, they aren’t some relegation fodder outfit.

It’s just a nonsense to say these players are championship standard. Im
Sure you or a few other were calling danjuma a championship player last season, though he got in the champions league team of the season a few seasons back and is playing for 9th best team in Spain right now.
It’s always the players fault

I don't think many, if any of our players are championship standard, I've never said anything of the sort. I think we have glaring weaknesses in the squad and our best centre forward has a career best of 16 league goals, under a world class manager, with Digne, Iwobi, James, Gylfi and Richarlison in the team. If he only got 16 under that set-up then he's not gonna get close to it in this team. That's a big concern - he's an 8 goals a season striker in a team like this.

The players are important you know mate. I've seen a good few people on here saying that our recent good defensive record is solely down to Branthwaite coming back in and nothing to do with Dyche. Well, what's it gonna be? You can't say that it's just good players making a difference and then on the other hand say that it's just the manager and nothing to do with the ability of all our players that is holding us back. By claiming that it's Branthwaite alone making the difference, isn't that just proof that we'd be better if we had more quality players? I'm not saying you've said that about JB or the manager, btw, just using it to make a point,

Back in the vaults, John?

Nope. He vaulted himself.

What's it got to do with you anyway mate if I go in the vaults? I mean, I know you've used terms like trawling and stuff, but it actually takes about 3 seconds to use a key word in the search function and then pair it with a user. Took me all of about 15 seconds to find two posts from you that i considered to be inconsistent. One relating to how you specifically said the word pragmatism could only be used if we weren't conceding too many, and the other in which you said the Dychette's just blame poor players, but then more recently said we're only defending well because of a quality player. Can't have it both ways....

For a fella who makes a big point about how predicting the future is a mugs game, you really do like holding months or even years old opinions over people's heads to make yourself feel superior. Now that's a contradiction. Can't have it both ways indeed....
