2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

None of the above is true. Dyche improved us in his first season, and then improved us again last season. He's also never had us on 15 points and in 19th place after 20 games, so no, he's definitely not doing exactly the same thing. These are unquestionable facts.

Have we gone backwards compared to last year? Yeah, a little bit. It could be argued that it's a tougher league this year. Now I'm not gonna sit here and start comparing every team to last years teams, but what I will point out is that you need more points this year to be in the top half than you did at the same stage last season, though it's taking less points to be in the top 4. It doesn't prove a lot, but it does show that every season has different dynamics and progress can't always be measured accurately against the season before. I do admit we've gone backwards a bit though, but not to the extent that many believe. I believe we're underachieving by about 3/4 points, but I also acknowledge that he bought himself some time when we looked like we might spiral, and since then, current form is actually not too bad.

I don't think many, if any of our players are championship standard, I've never said anything of the sort. I think we have glaring weaknesses in the squad and our best centre forward has a career best of 16 league goals, under a world class manager, with Digne, Iwobi, James, Gylfi and Richarlison in the team. If he only got 16 under that set-up then he's not gonna get close to it in this team. That's a big concern - he's an 8 goals a season striker in a team like this.

The players are important you know mate. I've seen a good few people on here saying that our recent good defensive record is solely down to Branthwaite coming back in and nothing to do with Dyche. Well, what's it gonna be? You can't say that it's just good players making a difference and then on the other hand say that it's just the manager and nothing to do with the ability of all our players that is holding us back. By claiming that it's Branthwaite alone making the difference, isn't that just proof that we'd be better if we had more quality players? I'm not saying you've said that about JB or the manager, btw, just using it to make a point,
I replied to a post about our right side being championship players and you got involved. And it’s really a pointless discussion mates if you actually think he’s doing a not bad job 15 points out of 15, but Lampard was doing a horrific job 15 points in 19 when he had a worse squad holgate was getting games as was Tom Davies, they’re actually championship players and are only 2 strikers available for a lot of them
Games were Rondon and maupay.

Last season was the worse bottom 3 in prem history, getting 34 points to stay up last season was pretty simple with that squad. And this season the 3 that have come up aren’t much better. It’s getting every year easier to survive, that’s music to Dyche’s ears

For a fella who makes a big point about how predicting the future is a mugs game, you really do like holding months or even years old opinions over people's heads to make yourself feel superior. Now that's a contradiction. Can't have it both ways indeed....

If you think I'm trying to make myself look superior in any way then you're massively wrong. I've held opinions that with hindsight I think were stupid. I thought Duncan was a serious contender to replace Carlo for a start.

Besides, none of the inconsistencies I've pulled you up on had anything at all to do with you trying to predict the future, so well done for making a completely facile point

Nah just ended the conversation with you because you were making a complete idiot out of yourself and it was honestly like talking to a wall.

The calm and reasoned post from 7 years that upset you so much because i just feel like winding you up a bit more because it is very funny. ;)

Err, so I vaulted you did I? I went in to the vaults and found that post did I? Or was it, like I said, you vaulted yourself?

PS, I'm not upset about anything.

and we get allegri and fly up the league
Don’t hold your breath.
Just accept the futility of being an Evertonian.
Grinding our way to survival, season after season ,unnoticed and disregarded.
Make apathy your friend, I have and I feel so much better for it 😁

Nah it wasn't you that vaulted me mate tbf. It was some other blurt who not only vaulted me but edited the post to give it a different meaning. Pretty sure you wouldn't stoop that low.

My mistake, you are correct. It was somebody else who brought it up. For some reason I though it was you. Probably because I actually read the full quote after you posted it. ;)

It’s always a choice. Always.

This is also Dyche’s second full season so he’s now had to chances where he started with exactly the same points as everyone else. It’s an absolutely BS excuse to say we’re near the bottom and have to do this. How did we get there?

Yes the next manager is huge because if we choose another who chooses not to play football we may finally go down.

So last season with two points deductions on the horizon was the time to try and open up with the same group of players who have just been in back to back relegation battles, knowing that if it doesn’t work the future of the club, the new stadium, and the takeover is literally on the line?

Fortunately Dyche’s judgement on risk return was more sound than yours.
