My memory is not great But I seem to recall Barkley starting against QPR and being the best player on the pitch.

Do. Not. Trust. My. Memory.

My memory is also not great.

Good news one of us is right. Quick looks and ge only made a few more appearances for the rest of the season.

Maybe I'm getting mixed up with him not getting a game.

Having read the Athletic piece from today, that seems to be the Friedkins' view of things: looking for somebody to pick us up out of the dirt, solidify things so we're not trying to stave off relegation every year, and then go back to the kicking-on part of the plan from there, after a year or two.

Can't say that I won't be disappointed if that's the plan, as I had hoped that they would be more aggressive in the summer, and I still think they wanted to do that before Dyche forced their hand. But it sounds like they are in fact willing to give Moyes a year or two to get things fully under control. Don't love it, but I at least understand where they're coming from. Plus Moyes has a reputation for picking out players without breaking the bank, which they have to be looking at when needing to replace half a squad in basically one window or so.

Only our fanbase could throw so much criticism at new owners weeks into their time in charge, who have taken decisive action with a flailing manager who had checked out, and seemingly have a replacement and plan in place in advance, and have an idea of what they want to do longer term.

Now, you can feel underwhelmed with it, and disappointed its not more ambitious (I am), but without knowing what alternatives there were immediately available and wanting to come - probably very few, possibly none - it's a decisive plan that has been executed pretty swiftly.

I’d rather David Moyes was our manager than Sean Dyche.

That’ll do for now.
We've got to stop thinking about it this way.

I'd rather have Lampard than Benitez.
I'd rather have Dyche than Lampard.
I'd rather have Moyes than Dyche.

All of these have been said. Over and over. Do any make you feel positive about the future? Did the two that have happened so far result in anything worth crowing about?

We've got to stop looking for a marginally better stop gap manager and go all in on someone who can actually change the results and the status of this club.

Is that David Moyes? I think not.

Well it will be interesting to see what clout he still has with players and if he can help find a couple of diamonds in the rough.

He simply will need to hit the ground running otherwise the fanbase will turn quicker than a dodgy pint of milk from your local corner shop.

Let's have it right.

Everton as a club is far different to the club it was when Moyes left.

And Moyes is far different to the manager he was when he left.

Let's just all get on eh?!

That's irrelevant. Nor has Dyche or Steve Bruce and managers of that ilk, but look at the football they serve
Moyes has achieved some relative success recently tho. You said the game has changed since he was last here but he’s been in the game so will have changed himself, unlike Dyche who didn’t look like at times he even had a plan A never mind a plan B.
