Cars today

Posted something in a different thread about the different cars around in the 80’s and early 90’s compared to what we have today. I used to love looking at cars when I was younger or the varied choices when shopping for a new car. I’m currently toying with the idea of buying a second car, nothing too expensive.. around the 4K-6k mark but honestly I can’t be bothered looking. They all look the same now, no character about them or anything that makes them aesthetically stand out. The only thing that’s caught my eye are the Jaguar XF ? …. Everything else just appears very samey …. Mokka, kuga, etc

Suzuki Swift, that's a fun car. And cheap, and not too unreliable.
Does it have to be a SUV?

That's good because a shopping trolley with a 2-stroke is about all you're going to get for that kind of money in today's market.

@chrismpw your time to shine kidda.

Cars are extremely boring these days. I used to be a petrol head myself, but you’re right - it’s all a generic, massively overpriced sea of sameness. Buying a car is like buying a new boiler these days - a boring expense for a necessary utility.
Indeed, I grew up with Cosworths, Lotus Carltons, Skylines that era, there is nothing like that anymore and anything even remotely interesting and quirky costs the price of a small country!!

it'll get much worse when the car market is a majority of electric cars. The motors will all be similar, sound similar (shabite), will be slaves to aerodynamics so will look similar. It'll be like buying a washing machine, purely functional. One of the reasons I bought something with a v8 engine while they are still around. Burn some dyne juice, the planet/human race is doomed anyway.

Wish I'd had the cash and space to pick up NSX's when they were all dumped for pennies seemingly by everyone. Then the turn around happened.

Think ya'll in GB will have to worry about this first. Unless there's a major change in battery life, infrastructure and big oil lobbying it ain't happening here.
