Cars today

Seems I’m not alone in formerly being a massive petrol head but being pretty unenthused about cars that come out these days. Like everything they’ve had the soul and any kind of personality sucked out of them in the name of consumerism.

There is still the odd good one and I know some companies are now stepping back from EV’s a bit which might help, but even most of the ones with engines are just beige bland buckets with the more drivers “aids” to take away the experience of driving the better.

At 6'2-6'3' I can guarantee you don't want one...tried one before my FR-S...no go. I'd suggest you'd want to be 5'8 or less.
A couple of years ago I spotted a VW Scirocco … it was immaculate… beautiful colour, bodywork was pristine, engine was sound, low mileage, service history etc etc… everything was right about it….. until I went to sit in it, I knew within 30 seconds it wasn’t right for me… broke my heart as I really love that car.

@kurt .... if you want a bit of size and something off the wall, source a Fiat Multipla

And calling an EV a Capri is just wrong

(The original Bodie & Doyle Capris were sold at auction last year for £160,000 each ....)

I’ve driven the electric Ford “Mustang”. I tried to charge something inside it and it started a small fire. I tried to charge the car and it started a large fire. Would not recommend.

Posted something in a different thread about the different cars around in the 80’s and early 90’s compared to what we have today. I used to love looking at cars when I was younger or the varied choices when shopping for a new car. I’m currently toying with the idea of buying a second car, nothing too expensive.. around the 4K-6k mark but honestly I can’t be bothered looking. They all look the same now, no character about them or anything that makes them aesthetically stand out. The only thing that’s caught my eye are the Jaguar XF ? …. Everything else just appears very samey …. Mokka, kuga, etc
I did something similar and bought a lexus IS its in mint condition 2008 cost around 7k. Its a beauty, a lovely car. Ive had a couple of Lexus cars so far so ace

….funny enough I’m due to swap mine for a new one in the next week. I’ve had my current car for 3 years and there’s less than 3k miles on the clock, so I tend to be able to swap for a new model.

If you want sporty £4k gets you a great mr2 Toyota. Amazing drive and super reliable

If you want practical honda crv or RAV4 Toyota

If you`re prepared to take your time looking and prepared to do a bit of travelling, you can still get a decent MK1 Beemer 3 series for 4k too.

You won`t get a 325, but the 318s were wonderful very understated the cars, that didn`t tend to get thrashed like the 325.

They`ve become super collectable due to there being so few of them left.

With the one off Storm model, you can virtually name your price - it`s a long time since I`ve seen one for sale.

If I get one, it’ll either be an SUV or a larger saloon … I’m a tad over 6ft tall and suffer with a long standing sciatic condition so space is a must for me to have a comfortable driving position, that’s why enjoy driving my van tbh as I’m virtually sat up straight .. I once drove my sisters audi A3 and just felt so cramped
Guilty of all the above. Changed in August to a BMW X3 that I can step out of instead of stepping up from. What a difference. Also decided to go to a Chiropractor and the Sciatic condition is nearly completely gone.
