I’ve got my first road race of the year later , a 10 k which I’ve run a few times before so know the route. It looks like 3 miles into a strong head wind today, turn , 3 miles back with wind behind you so I’ll need to get my pacing strategy right.
I’ve been using Runna as well - have you been able to do the “Race Pace” intervals in your long runs? I can’t get near them for any length of time
While having a similar basis ( long runs, easy runs, faster runs) most marathon plans are different. I put in “ marathon pace” miles in my longer runs at times eg 2miles Easy + 6 miles at marathon pace + 2 E + 6 M + 1 Easy giving 17 miles total . To answer @Dddddd ’s question, it looks easy on paper but it’s quite hard to do the race pace in training , your body is tired from training, there’s hills , wind etc . I’ve rarely achieved the “ M pace/ race pace” consistently, if I’m close to it and getting the training benefit I’m happy. Come race day when I’ll be well rested and prepared it’ll be a different mater. Not that I'm aware of mate. I've been doing interval training and different paces for my long runs, but yesterday's one had me going quicker than my race pace at one point? Don't know if that is normal?

Great effort - well doneJust done my second race of the year - Montane Delamere Forest Trail Half Marathon.
Pretty much perfect running conditions - still, clear and crisp.
I`m not into chasing PB`s, as I`m too old now, but I somehow managed to beat my previous forest trail PB from five years ago by six minutes, which was a very unexpected bonus !
Great effort - well done
Where do you find the upcoming trail races?
The good thing about Lakeland trails, amongst others, is they usually take place on a Saturday. The Sientries website is the best one.
Lakeland Trails do a race every month from April onwards- their events are the best ( imo ) - great courses, friendly and with loads going on off the course.

They have a few distances spread across the day allowing me n the missus to alternate childcare duties and race. There's hardly any that allow that.
Also gives us a chance to get a rewarding drink in on a Saturday night.
Got Staveley in May.
Checking out the SIentries website now you've mentioned it, looking to find a trail race this month and next, looks to be some great ones
Now that is some achievement! The races start properly in April mate, as the weather settles down a bit, so the races attract more entrants.
I’m going to the Stavely new half marathon next year, as it’s one of the only Lakeland trails races, outside of the ultra, that I haven’t done !

Well done , that’s great progress , consistency of training is everything when it comes to improving.I did a shorter 5k today along the promenade, had the wind behind me and went off at a decent pace.
Got to half way to turn around and it was a different story
Went from 5m km’s to nearly 5.30.
Did the 5k at 25:54 which I was pretty pleased with still though.
Nearly 3 1/2 mins quicker than when I started running again at the end of January.
